Drake and Kendrick Lamar appeared to be a lot closer before the Compton emcee came out with that controversial verse on Big Sean’s track “Control.” In the verse, Kendrick called out Drake and several other of his peers and challenged them to step their bars up because he has his mindset on becoming one of the greatest who ever picked up the mic. Drake responded in an interview and claimed the verse has made him lose interest in collaborating with Kendrick again in the near future. So it’s no surprise many believed Kendrick took shots at Drake in his cypher for the BET Hip Hop Awards when he mentioned a “sensitive rapper” in his verse:

“Yeah…and nothing’s been the same since they dropped “Control”/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his Pajama Clothes/ Ha-ha jokes on you, high-five…..I’m bulletproof/ Your sh*ts a never penetrate, pin the tail on the donkey boy you been a fake….”

In a recent interview with the Breakfast Club crew, Kendrick actually spoke on the rumored beef and he says he has nothing against Drake:

“I was having fun, rapping, man. Yeah. Nah, we just having fun, you feel what I’m saying? Hip-hop is a sport and people are going to dissect lyrics and that’s what it’s about at the end of the day. I got nothing against Drake. He put out a great album, again, he’s doing his thing. He’s a part of this new generation that’s doing this music, you feel me?”

  1. I think Kendrick answered the question well. He said all he needed to say about it in his verses. No need to hold a grudge. I’m sure Drake will get over it eventually too.

  2. Honestly both of them are dope. I hope Drake will eventually get out his feelings so they can collaborate again.

  3. Well unlike Drake, Kendrick doesn’t have periods, so he knows their whole issue wasn’t that serious to begin with.
