“Saturday Night Live” is known for being controversial and spoofing pretty much everyone and anything, so we can’t really say we’re all that surprised that they decided to go after the hit film “The Best Man Holiday” and Tyler Perry’s extremely popular character Madea.

While everyone is still trying to figure out if we should be offended or not, what is clear in the spoof is that the writers basically took what they feel is typical characters and storylines in black films but had them portrayed by white actors.

They even redid one of our favorite scenes from “The Best Man Holiday” in which the guys did a cute rendition of “Can You Stand the Rain” and instead there was a rendition of “The Right Stuff,” a popular song from New Kids on the Block.

Some feel the spoof was racist and insensitive, while others feel it was a clever way to demonstrate the popular opinion which is that white people tend to only support movies with their own as the leading cast. Either way, check out the video yourself and tell us if you’re offended…or not.

  1. I don’t even think it was funny. It just goes to show you they don’t take our films seriously. Thanks for confirming what I always suspected SNL.

  2. Yikes. I guess they felt they needed to go there for ratings. I can’t think of anyone who still watches this show anyway.

  3. I think the main point of this spoof was to show white people that they only want to see movies with white people in it, no matter what the movie is about. And I think that’s true.

    1. Yeah y’all should have seen how mad they were when they put that little black girl in the Hunger Games. Then they were mad that black man was in the sequel. They hate that. Not all but a good bit of them.

  4. I’m sorry I did laugh. That part about a man with wearing a necklace over a sweater made me chuckle. But this was stupid and offensive because they pretty much made fun of most of our movies. Notice how they didn’t make fun of the slaves/maids movies they are always nominating for Oscars tho…I guess that’s the only time they want to see us in movies.

  5. Why is is that when there’s a movie with a cast mainly of black actors it’s a “black film” but when a movie has mainly just a white cast, it’s just a film? That’s really unfair to me. We have to get past that. The Best Man Holiday was a film for everyone. Having a black cast doesn’t change that.

  6. The first hint to answer the question if we should be offended or not is in the very question about us having to think “if” we should. I do not think it was offensive. We should be able to take a look at ourselves….or how we are perceivd and laugh a little if we do some things that are a bit funny. Also, if we don’t like how we look or are perceived then WE need to change. I for one am tired of all of Tyler Perry’s movies he tends to make the biggest mockery of us all.

  7. i think they were just really making fun of all the terrible Tyler Perry movies out here! And I don’t blame them!
