R&B singer Kelly Rowland just confirmed her highly speculated engagement to her manager Tim Witherspoon a few days ago on “The Queen Latifah Show,” but now she’s opening up even more about her upcoming nuptials to the media.

Although many assumed Kelly would invite her Destiny’s Child group members Beyonce and Michelle Williams to her big day, it appears Kelly has some different plans in mind.

In fact, she tells PEOPLE that her wedding will be so small that the only person who will get an invite is the pastor:

“I think we just really want it to be us and our pastor. That’s it. I mean, we are the only two that’s going to be in the marriage.

“You have to pay for food for everyone and I’m not down with that. Everyone is there just to be nosy and see who I’m wearing, you know. I’m okay.”

  1. I don’t blame her. I got married at the courthouse. My dress wasn’t even $100 and it was only a few people there. Some women don’t want to go through the fuss of a big wedding. I sure didn’t.

    1. Very smart. I’m not there yet (clearly) but I think I might go to the courthouse too when that day comes. I hate weddings.

  2. Well it’s her day and she should have it exactly how she wants it. Whenever I’m blessed to get married I actually want to a small wedding also not that small but small lol. Congrats again Kelly!

  3. Very smart. Why spend a whole bunch of money on a wedding anyway? Being married is the hardest part, so save the money for a house instead so you can at least start out on the right foot and be debt free.

  4. I don’t blame her. I don’t even what to think about marriage yet (eww) but I think I will be the same way. It’s not that serious. The marriage is more important than the wedding.

  5. Weddings are dumb anyway once they get too big because most of the people that come out are only there to judge you and everything you put together. From what you’re wearing, to what the bridesmaids looked like, oh and the rings…everything is judged. Just keep it small for the people who actually love you and aren’t there to be entertained.
