Brandy Norwood says she’s in the process to release another studio album, but it appears she may have some new legal problems on her hands to deal with first.

According to the Courthouse News Service, the R&B singer is being accused of ripping off a non-profit organization. Apparently she’s being sued for allegedly not showing up to a scheduled performance after she was paid to attend:

After demanding a police escort, rhythm & blues singer Brandy failed to show up at an Austin music festival and left the promoter holding the bag, an Austin nonprofit claims in court. Soul Tree Collective sued Brandy Norwood in Travis County Court.

Soul Tree hosts the Austin Urban Music Festival each year, a prime support of its charitable activities.

Soul Tree claims it hired Norwood for $30,000 to headline the 2013 festival, and also paid for her hotel and travel, and leased equipment as required by contract.

Less than 24 hours before her scheduled appearance, Brandy’s manager told Soul Tree she would not arrive the morning of the performance and asked for an even more “exclusive and expensive suite,” the complaint states.

The site goes on to say that Brandy’s camp told the charity that she would arrive 25 minutes before the show due to her flight being rescheduled over technical issues, and the singer’s camp requested that they send a police escort to accompany her at the airport. Soul Tree Collective staff claims this was an impossible request to fulfill because it would push back the starting time of the show. However, Brandy’s band made it to the venue on time but the singer herself was a no-show.

She’s being sued for the $30,000 she was paid upfront by Soul Tree Collective.

    1. She does! I also feel like they did not promote her last album good enough. It was so good and didn’t get the recognition it deserved.

    2. I totally agree. It seems like her cousin and fiancé are handling her career along with that Breyon guy, but I think she may need someone who isn’t family as her manager. I’m not blaming them for this, but things have started to go downhill. The nearly empty stadium incident should have been a sign for Brandy to make some changes. She seems like a good person and very talented so she needs to surround herself with people who have her best interests at heart.

  1. SMH Brandy needs to do better. If you’re going to act that way then why even agree to perform for a charity? She’s lucky they’re only suing her for the money they originally paid her to show up.

    1. I agree. You don’t make those kind of demands for non profits and charities. They can barely afford to pay as it is.

        1. Some of your faves. She inspired most of the big names out here today in R&B. Research before you try to shade. Anymore questions?

  2. I’m sure she won’t have an issue refunding their money. Or at least, I hope. This probably has more to do with her team than her, but still…the people you have working for you are a reflection of you. So…hopefully they tighten up.

  3. Wait wasn’t she just sued sometime last year for something similar? No that’s right, she wasn’t sued but her camp did a terrible job at promoting one of her performances and no one came out to see her. Brandy’s team sucks and she needs to fire them. They keep making the worst mistakes.

  4. And now when I think about it, what really happened is Brandy’s camp worked with some janky promoters and no one knew she was performing. She came on stage and the crowd was pretty much empty. Why didn’t she revamp her camp after that? She should have.

  5. Man I read the whole lawsuit…Brandy was kind of acting like a diva. Why did she request all those things from a non profit? Smh.

  6. This is hilarious! Let’s break this scandal down, shall we?

    1) This ***** is way too RICH to be ripping people off for $30K?
    2) A non-profit? Really, Brandy? Times hard?
    3) Why did she need a police escort? 1998 was a looooonnnng time ago. Boo, ain’t nobody checkin’ for you.
    4) This girl should show up to every time someone remembers her to pay her to stand up there and hum 15yo muzak. (You don’t wanna hear anything from the last 10 years. You really don’t.) My local Acme is having a having a bake-off. She should be interested.
    5) Did someone in the audience complain about Brandy’s absence? Why?
    6) What masochistic record label is giving her another shot to throw away money? Last year, when I went to buy her 211 album, they handed me a big can of 211 malt liquor and told me that I’d be happier with that. (And I was.)

    Last but not least:
    6) Girl, we still remember that woman’s death. Don’t be still showing that you one of the gully-est *****es who ever graced the game. Anyone who doesn’t know that hasn’t been watching or listening.
