Jennifer Hudson found herself the target of backlash and criticism from fans of some of today’s biggest pop stars considering what she told the Huffington Post after they asked her who and what she felt was overrated in today’s music industry.

Just to refresh your memory, here’s the quote that had everyone talking on social media several days ago:

“Girl, I can’t. Ooooh … Singing about the same old things in music is so overrated. Sex, drinkin’, the club. Okay, especially sex. Like, we [are] grownups, we ain’t got over that, like, really? Ain’t you too old for that kind of thing? Can you talk about something else? I get annoyed with those things. But I can’t answer the last question, ohhh though I want to.”

It didn’t take long for many fans of Beyonce and Rihanna to call shade. Jennifer Hudson took to her Twitter account just minutes ago to respond to her critics and says it was a general comment although she did admit in the comment that she did have a particular person in mind but didn’t want to give a name:

  1. Typical J-Hud! I knew she would once again pretend she didn’t have anyone in mind when she said that. This is what she always does. It’s ok boo. You have to promote that soon to flop album some kind of way, right?

  2. When she said this a few years ago she also said her words were misconstrued:

“I won’t be taking my clothes off – no way at all. Beyonce and Rihanna can have that. I like to cover up more. I won’t do Playboy.”

She likes to throw stones and hide her hands. Again, had this been Keyshia Cole she would have been dragged for months on Twitter.

    1. Well… the BIG difference is… Ms Cole names names. She never hides who she’s talking about so she can then feign shock when she’s called out over it.

  3. I guess she thinks people are stupid. Well that’s fine Jennifer. You can once again pretend you’re not shading and you love and support everyone. And next year you will once again throw shade to Beyonce and Rihanna when your next album flops like all the others. And good luck on looking sexy. I see you’ve been trying pretty hard lately to no avail.

  4. This is why I have so much respect for the greats like Patti and co. When they shade, they stand by it and don’t make any apologies for it. I can at least respect that. Jen loves to backtrack and pretend she has no clue what people are talking about. Whitney and Patti and them don’t play that. They spoke their minds and didn’t ever back peddle.

  5. LOL! I guess girl. I guess. This makes me appreciate Nicki and Mariah more because at least they could stand by the shade they threw each other.

  6. What the hell ever. She’s such a phony person. She can’t stand by the shade she throws and she loves to pretend she’s so holy and nun like when she really isn’t. I’m over it.

  7. She needs to make sure her sometimes fans actually buy her album this time. While they are cosigning this wack attempt at shade, her music career has left much to be desired. And didn’t her last movie (the Winnie Mandela one) go straight to DVD too? Get your priorities in order girl.

  8. I haven’t liked her since she played Effie in Dreamgirls (I guess that means she did a good job playing her character lol, idk). And strangely enough, she tends to be the whiny/catty brat she played on the movie, in real life. *shrug* Hope she bought into Weight Watchers. That’s all she’s got.
