On the upcoming film, he says:

“About Last Night is a romantic comedy, where unlike most, we really deal with the complexities of relationships. We delve deeply into both the good and the bad, and not just gloss over the romanticized parts as is often done.”

He also spoke a little on his marriage and said he married in secret because he’s very private:

“Well, you know me, and you know that I am an extremely private person. But what I can say is that I’m not a young cat anymore. I’ve gone through my share of relationships, which ironically enough, I think have contributed to the work that I’ve done in some of these relationship films. I can relate to Danny in this new film, because I was him. So when I watched the film I was so happy that I had matured beyond that point in my life. Don’t get me wrong; marriage opens up an entirely different can of worms as it pertains to your evolution as a man. I’ve found that for me, the timing of it was right … that’s all that I can really say. And that’s a personal decision that was not made in haste, because we were together for four years. But when you find someone — and that’s something that is very hard to do … but when you find someone that you actually want to spend the rest of your life with, you have to go for it. I was just very lucky that the stars lined up for me.”

Despite feeling like the choice to marry wasn’t made in haste, he also stated that his wife isn’t even his type:

“While, I don’t consider myself a person that should write a book, or give advice on relationships, what I will share is my personal perspective. What helped me along the way was I had two personal friends of mine whose fiancés died. And I went through a personal struggle where my father got really sick, and I spent a week with him … and it just dawned on me that we don’t have as much time as we think. And when you’re done playing games, and you find someone who has qualities that are much more practical as opposed to romanticized ideals, then you’ve got to hold on to them. People think that you’re supposed to marry your type … well, I didn’t marry my type. It’s much more practical, and based in a day-to-day existence. So when you have that, and you’re happy, and you love her, don’t waste time. Because time — and I’ve learned that at this point in my life — time is my most precious commodity. Nothing is more precious than time. Because when it runs out … that’s it.”

  1. Well he gave some solid advice about marriage. It’s something about this movie that just isn’t appealing to me. I can’t put my finger on it.

  2. He’s only saying his wife isn’t his type because she’s a white woman and he doesn’t want to turn off his black female fans. He ain’t slick.

    1. LOL I peeped that too. But as long as he doesn’t bash black women, he doesn’t have to worry about losing us as fans.

  3. Yeah I agree that marriage is also about practicality. People have to make sure they marry someone they actually want to see every single day. It’s so much more than looks, bank accounts, sex, etc.

    1. Exactly. What does he mean she isn’t his type? He loves white girls, especially brunettes. Is that not what his wife is? LOL.

  4. well guess what: sellout isnt my type either. and i did not see the movie. to make it worse: the lack of creativity and RE-DOS that is today is sickening…throw a little sellout in too and it’s just deadly (haha)

  5. If you don’t marry your type then…it’s questionable if the marriage will work. Your types sums up many things from looks to spirituality. Wish him the best; He should have married his type. I think his looks are overrated.

    1. But she’s not black though, right? Oh. Ok. The point was his type is not a black woman. He prefers the others, and in the past it’s mostly been white women. And for his wife to be “indian” as you claim, he sure did make sure he found the whitest looking one. But I’m sleep though.

  6. Although Im Italian and Swedish ~ my bc says white ~ I I have natural curly spiral hair ~ thick and curvy ~ ppl wonder…. If he likes white women or black or me… Lol He’s gorgeous
