The last time Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson made headlines, it was because the son he never met was killed by his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend. But now it appears the NFL player may have another scandal involving a child on his hands.

The Viking Age writes:

Adrian Peterson is apparently in big big trouble. Details on this story are sketchy right now, but early reports say the Vikings RB has been indicted in Montgomery County, Texas for reckless or negligent injury to a child.

Rusty Hardin, Peterson’s lawyer, is in full no comment mode right now.

Peterson missed practice on Thursday and according to coach Mike Zimmer he was given a day off because of his veteran status. But it appears now that may have not been entirely the truth.

UPDATE: Adrian’s attorney Rusty Hardin has issued a statement regarding the indictment, and Hardin claims Adrian was indicted because he hit his son with a switch.

ESPN writes:

Peterson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, issued a statement Friday saying his client’s conduct “involves using a switch to spank his son.” According to a report by Sports Radio 610 in Houston, Peterson removed the leaves of a tree branch, which he referred to in a police report as “a switch,” to strike the child.

“This indictment follows Adrian’s full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son,” Hardin said in his statement. “He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened.”

The Vikings have deactivated Peterson from this Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

    1. I got my butt whopping with a belt every now and then as a kid. I think that’s the only way he knows how to discipline his kid. I’m not saying that’s ok, but some of us knows the feeling of an butt whopping.

  1. You would think he would lay low after what happened the last time. But I guess that makes way too much sense for him.

  2. So he loses a child he never got to meet to child abuse and still abuses another one of his children? I hope that’s not the case.

    1. It really has. I don’t understand why these rich athletes are so stupid. If you get good money to do what you love, you better do whatever you can to make sure you don’t mess that up.

  3. White folks are about to have a field day with this. A lot of them do not believe in spanking their kids. But I’ll save that subject for another day.

    1. It’s bleeding heart liberal BS that has brought us to this idea that spanking a child is abuse. I believe there are a lot of black liberals out there

  4. In my opinion you can’t be whooping children with switches nowadays. Things have changed these are not the old times. Adrian is 6’1 215 he is too big to be whooping a 4year child with a switch or a hand.

  5. Touchy subject for me. My mom beat me with a belt once, and my teacher called CPS on her. They didn’t take me away or anything. But I always thought that was an overreaction. She didn’t kill me and it didn’t put me in the hospital. And now I’m an attorney and can say I have no criminal record. The bible says, Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. (Proverbs 13:24)

  6. Welp. We already know how this will end. The media will make Adrian the face of child abuse and he will be released from the Vikings ad NFL very soon. Smh.

  7. He should have known you can’t spank your kids anymore. You have to put them in time out now and if that doesn’t work, put them on crazy meds (the same ones that lead to kids shooting up their own schools).

    1. You better tell the truth ma’am. That timeout bs doesn’t work, I’m not saying beat your kids but a good spankng every now and then is with some children is necessary. This is why these kids have no respect for authority, if they don’t respect and honor their own parents the rest of society can hang it up!

  8. The media is about to make an example out of him. And it sounds like his baby mama spearheaded this. But I’m sleep though…
