Rihanna made headlines yesterday for calling out CBS on Twitter for refusing to play her song for the opening of last Thursday’s game amid the Ray Rice controversy and then deciding to do it this week, and the network later made a statement confirming they would no  longer be using the song.

Interestingly enough, it’s now been confirmed CBS won’t be using the song because legally it can’t. Apparently Roc Nation pulled a boss move and stripped the network of its rights to use the song after it dissed Rihanna.

Deadline reports:

Roc Nation revoked CBS’ license to use Jay-Z tune “Run This Town” for its Thursday Night Football package because of the network’s “misuse and misrepresentation of Rihanna’s name and participation in connection to the Thursday football package,” among other offenses it cited, prompting CBS to announce today it was “going in another direction” with its football opener.

      1. Kanye ain’t been hot since he got with Kim. Now he’s just someone to point and laugh at like the rest of the Kardashians.

        1. Lol……& I think his in-laws are secretly laughing too….I bet when he ain’t around he is the butt of their jokes just like Lamar & Rob was.

  1. CBS handled this entire situation wrong. On top of that they tried to act like they chose to part ways with Rihanna when in reality they a-s probably got served with a cease and desist if they aired Rihanna’s song. Epic Fail!

  2. I’m glad her management had her back. It’s not cool to punish another domestic violence victim while you’re trying to send a message to an abuser.

  3. Hilarious! That is exactly what they get. People need to stop trying to come for Rihanna. She works hard and deserves respect.

  4. Roc Nation did what any good management team would do, they stood up for their artist. Now hopefully CBS will come correct with the next artist. I’m glad Rihanna and so many others dragged them over this.

  5. CBS thought Rihanna would roll over and play dead as they used her as a scapegoat in this mess. They really didn’t know who they were f-cking with.
