RHOA star Kandi Burruss and her new hubby Todd Tucker found a hit in Atlanta with their play “A Mother’s Love,” and since the play did so well in the ATL they decided to pack up their bags and take the play on the road.

However, it’s now been confirmed that the play has hit a major snag. Blogger Funky Dineva writes:

Nessa girl, it saddens me to have to even tell you the bullsh!t I’m about to tell you. After all the ranting and the raving, A Mother’s Love WILL NOT be coming to a city nearest you after all. Simply put, it appears that the promoter who the play was licensed to may have bitten off a little more than they could chew. Quiet as its kept, I knew something in the milk wasn’t clean when the check I was written for my first week’s salary bounced. Writing this post is a little weird for me, because I am so use to telling other people’s tea, and not my own. However, here we go…

For those of you wondering “how is it that the play stop moving due to lack of resources, and Kandi is rich”, here’s how. Kandi & Todd created and produced the original play. After the play’s initial run in Atlanta, Kandi & Todd were apprehensive about travelling the play around the US on their dime, because these were unchartered territories for them. One magical day, A promoter approached Kandi & Todd about wanting to invest in and promote the play on a 30 city tour. The reasonable assumption to any rational adult is that if someone approaches you about putting a 30 city tour together, that they have the resources and the skill set to do so. Well we all know what they say about assumptions…

…We successfully performed in 3 cities in Georgia. The shows were stellar, though attendance could have been much better. It is my assumption that the promoter was banking on the week one shows to sell out, to carry us into week two, and so on and so forth. Well , you can’t squeeze blood from a turnip. When the week once [sic] receipts were tallied, the bottom line was, we didn’t have enough resources to move into week two. Week two was subsequently cancelled. No tea no shade, I wasn’t trippin, because after the weeks of rehearsal and rigorous week one schedule, The Doll needed a break. I figured we’d pick back up with week three, which happens to be the present moment. However, once the sun went down yesterday, and I didn’t have any travel arrangements for Detroit.

Dineva goes on to say a lot of people are devastated with the play’s cancellation because some of them quit their day jobs.

Kandi also released a statement on the issue too:

“I licensed “A Mother’s Love” to a promoter, with the high expectations of finally seeing my creation go on the road. I am very saddened and frustrated by the cancellation of the tour. More than that, my heart goes out to the cast, who all are AMAZINGLY talented. We all worked really hard to put together an awesome show. It breaks my heart that we won’t be able to put on this show for my fans, who have bought tickets and who were looking forward to seeing it. I stand with them in disbelief and despair that this has happened. I was caught off guard as well. I want to thank everyone who have supported all of the projects I have worked on. I hope you understand that the cancellation was beyond my control. Please don’t hold it against me! I know that a lot of tickets were sold and from what I understand, they will be refunded. Thanks to all the people who tweeted showing excitement for the show and sending love my way. I was supposed to be headed to Detroit this weekend and to find out that we’re not going kills me. To all the fans who volunteered to be on the street teams promoting the show, I promise to make it up to you! I love you guys! Thanks for your love and understanding.”

  1. Wait, is she sure this promoter was hired by Mama Joyce? Lol!

In all seriousness, I feel bad for Kandi, because this was her pet project. But I’m also really surprised though, because I thought he team would’ve confirmed the promoter’s credentials before signing on the dotted. Don Juan’s head might be on a platter for this one.

  2. You mean to tell me Kandi’s filthy rich and doesn’t know how to check out someone’s background before she does business with them? The f-ck?

    1. I get what you’re saying, but that’s her management team’s job. That’s why I think Don Juan’s head will roll for this one.

  3. Just more proof that Kandi needs to work on her business skills. She obviously has not learned from Kim Z situation. You have to thoroughly check people out before you do business with them.

  4. Kandi and Todd brought this on themselves. Why didn’t anyone do the education on the promoter before agreeing to license him the play? That was dumb.

  5. She supposed to be a boss bish tho. Boss bishes are involved in every part of their hustles. She should have checked out the promoter herself. She knows better.
