J Cole released his latest studio album with no lead singles or heavy promotion, and his first week numbers are spectacular. Now music head claims J Cole’s latest release makes him this year’s biggest Hip Hop release.

Rap-Up writes:

Cole world. J. Cole rules the Billboard 200 this week as his third album 2014 Forest Hills Drive enters at No. 1.

The North Carolina rapper takes the top spot from Taylor Swift’s 1989 by selling 371,000 copies in his first week. 2014 Forest Hills Drive marks Cole’s biggest opening week and the highest-selling debut of any hip-hop album in 2014, beating Rick Ross’ Mastermind (179,000).

  1. Amazing! Congratulations to him. Nicki really needs to look at how she’s marketing herself, or the music shes putting out, etc. because neither JC, or D’angelo did any sort of promotion, and they both surpassed her big time.

  2. I’m listening to the album right Love Yourz on repeat. So happy for J.Cole not only was the album fire,he did it with no promotion, and he stayed true to who he is.

  3. That’s what’s up man. I’m happy for him. It’s a really solid album. Smh this is why I maintain that Wale’s decision to leave RocNation for MMG was a terrrrrrrible idea. He should be much further along than what he is now. They were dominating the mixtape game around the same time… Anywho, congrats to Jermaine. He deserves it.
