Ciara & Russell Wilson Commit to Abstinence

Ciara and Russell Wilson are getting comfortable with their public romance, so it’s no surprise both celebs are opening up more about their relationship in interviews.

Now that things are serious, Russell, a devout Christian, has convinced Ciara to commit to being abstinent.

The Washington Post writes:

“I ain’t gonna lie to y’all now, I need y’all to pray for us!” Wilson exclaimed during an interview with Pastor Miles McPherson of the Rock Church.

In a wide-ranging discussion with McPherson — who himself played in the NFL, as did his brother, Don — Wilson touched on his life story and his desire to continue playing baseball, as well as, of course, his faith. The quarterback spoke of how special Ciara was to him, then told a story about when he was backstage at one of her concert tour stops.

“It was about 15 minutes before she went onstage,” he told McPherson, “and she was sitting there, and God spoke to me. He said, ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Right now?’ … He goes, ‘No, I want you and need you to lead her.’ And so I told her, right then and there, ‘What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table?’ Just do it Jesus’s way.”

When McPherson asked Russell to “elaborate on what that means,” the quarterback said, “Yeah, we’re talking about s*x.”

“I knew that God had brought me into her life to bless her, and for her to bless me,” Russell continued, “and to bless so many people with the impact that she has, that I have. We’re not going to be perfect, by any means … but He’s anointed both of us. I know that He’s calling for us to do something miraculous, something special.

“And I told her — and she completely agreed — is the fact that, ‘Can we love each other without that?’ If you can really love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody.”
