Sanaa Lathan’s new film “The Perfect Guy” hits theaters this Friday and the beautiful actress opened up recently about the difficulties of being a black actress.

She tells Access Hollywood:

“I’ve been in the business for 20 years and I’ve done a lot of movies, from romantic comedies to dramas, and I know for a fact that people of all races see them.

“It’s not a niche thing. Black movies are American movies. Straight Outta Compton’ was brilliant, and there are so many other examples.

“Hollywood should reflect the melting pot of America. It’s not reflecting that yet.”

  1. Who cares about what white people think about black movies? I mean really I’m tired of hearing this. One of my favorite things to watch right now is Black & Sexy TV. It was started by a black couple and a few other black people. They started on YouTube and now that have their own streaming service and bring in like millions a year now. We don’t need white people to check for us anymore. Look at Netflix! Netflix is killing cable by bringing shows TV wouldn’t even give a chance. And so many people are doing well with Youtube. Do your own thing and get that real money without sacrificing creative control.
