Lamar is currently playing more from the record as part of his ‘Kunta’s Groove’ tour in the US and stopped in New York last week (November 2).
During the performance he spoke to fans between songs, taking the opportunity to talk about the album and the way it has been received as well as how it will live on in his future gigs. Footage from the gig has just emerged online.
“This may be the first and last time that I perform ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ – [in] eight to 10 cities,” Lamar said.
“And I made sure that New York would be one of those cities that I would come back to. So with that being said, we’re gonna rock this sh*t until the casket drop.”
Talking about the success of the album, Lamar added: “This album has soared right to the top, with no motherf**king commercial success. God allowed it to be top tier, without a constant radio single or shit. So that proves to you right there that music isn’t something [that] you can market all the time.”

These ungrateful a-s children have him doubting himself. Sad sh-t.
I think he still feels some kind of way about those rude Future fans who walked out during his set.
When will the whining stop?!?
I don’t blame him. People don’t really appreciate this album. It’s like they don’t understand it.
I didn’t listen to the whole album as of yet…..but all future is doing is mumbling, sounding high talking about drugs and soda…..Kendrick shouldn’t feel no way. Most of the youth is on drugs and are in special Ed anyway.
The album was booty. He tried too hard and everyone could tell. Gkmc was effortless and much better.
This is truly a lost generation but it isn’t surprising because these dumb a-s kids nowadays don’t appreciate good music. They rather listen to Future who you can barely understand instead of Kendrick who is spitting some real. This is the world we live in today where popularity trumps talent sad but true.
Or maybe some ppl don’t listen to music for fu*kin “substance” and go to school n interact with people for “substance”. Music should take you places you can’t visit and IMO Kendricks boring as* ain’t doing that
Who went to the concert and expected him to perform songs from his new album? I think is a nice body of work butI have to be in he mood to listen to it. I consider it a mood album.
TPAB is just not the kind of album everyone will love and be able to vibe to. And he’s going to have to make peace with that.
