Erykah Badu is hosting this year’s Soul Train Music Awards and she will be dropping a new mixtape soon, so she stopped by the Breakfast Club earlier this morning to promote her upcoming projects.
She also dished a little about her Twitter beef with Azealia Banks and getting along with her baby daddies.
On her Azealia Banks feud, she says she had no idea telling a fan she “tried” to listen to Azealia’s music would lead to drama:
“I think sometimes if we’re not careful we let people instigate us into some kind of weird situation. It’s the people around who are repeating it…retweeting and retweeting.
“I didn’t even know she was going to read it.
“I mean that’s just the way it is. I was just saying some sh*t, really. Now I got some hardcore b*tch after me.”
Erykah may not be able to find any peace with Azealia but she is in a good place with the fathers of her children.

Well she’s also hella talented. People will usually overlook your flaws when you’re talented.

If she has an understanding with all of them, then good. I will say we never hear about her fighting with any of her children’s fathers. They are never on TMZ. I commend them for that.

She speaks so calm and well. Even when she doesn’t want to answer the question, she will answer with great poise.

This was a good interview. People have to remember Erykah doesn’t believe in most traditional practices. She doesn’t believe in the traditional marriage like that. She feels a spiritual connection is just as good as a legal marriage. So in her mind, she was married to her baby daddies. Now it may not make sense, but that’s just how she sees things.
