Ice Cube Wants Today’s Rappers to Step It Up

NWA’s biopic “Straight Outta Compton” was a massive hit in the theaters, and Ice Cube would strongly agree that there’s a huge difference between rappers back in NWA’s era and today’s rap artists.

According to Cube, most rappers nowadays don’t want to rap about real issues.

And he thinks it’s a cop-out.

  1. Cube dropping some knowledge he didn’t tell not one lie. Majority of the rappers nowadays are wack and do need to step it up.

  2. Rap doesn’t sell like it used to so I think rapers have just gotten lazy as a result. Most don’t even try anymore.

  3. The only thing I disagree with here is that he refers to it as “escapism.” I feel that it’s more along the lines of ignorance. Most rappers today don’t know enough about “real issues” to express their point-of-view, let alone make a track/album about it.
