Lifetime’s Aaliyah biopic caused a lot of controversy, and many were upset about the film because it was eventually revealed that Aaliyah’s family members didn’t sign off on the project.

Former Disney star Zendaya was selected to play the deceased R&B singer in the film, but after the backlash got so thick on social media, she backed away from the project.

Her camp eventually told media outlets that  Zendaya pulled out because she found out the family did not support the movie and Lifetime couldn’t even secure rights to use Aaliyah’s music.

In a recent interview, Zendaya opens up about the biopic and she says it was “inappropriate.”

  1. F-ck that Aaliyah’s family is on my sh-t list because they have made it so damn hard to buy her music in this day and age. How can her legacy survive when you can’t even access her music?

  2. She’s a pretty girl and a good role model. I wish people would give her a chance. We need more role models like her and Amandla and the Obama girls. Let’s support them and not tear them down.

  3. Wendy’s Johnny Bravo mannish lookin a-s was being tacky as usual. She was more concerned with Aaliyah’s relationship w/ R.Kelly and Damon Dash rather than the story behind her talent and actual rise to stardom.

P.S – I agree with Anonymous she’s starting to annoy me too.
