Jada Pinkett Smith is Not Here for the 2016 Oscar Awards

We told you weeks ago that some in the media were suspecting Will Smith, Idris Elba and Michael B. Jordan could rack up nominations since their latest films were critically acclaimed, but neither scored a nomination.

While neither actor has expressed disappointment with the snubs, Will’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith was vocal about it on her social media accounts.

She also hinted that it’s time for actors of color to start pondering withdrawing their support for the Academy Awards.

She writes:

At the Oscars…people of color are always welcomed to give out awards…even entertain, but we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together? People can only treat us in the way in which we allow.
With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment,
J.

    1. No but I don’t mind her saying what needed to be said. People need to start calling the Academy out more. They been trifling.

  1. Now these black actors want to be mad? Now? This has been going on for a long time. I’m glad she said something but it shouldn’t have taken so long.

  2. This is a little out of character for Jada. She’s usually PC with the Hollywood crowd. I guess Will not getting a nomination was the last straw for her.

  3. Ultimately Jada is right but this should have been said a long time ago because the oscars have been f***** up for a long time. People acting surprised but it really shouldn’t look at the history. Denzel should have won for Malcolm X and for Hurricane and but they finally give him an oscar for playing a crooked cop that speaks volumes. Will Smith playing a doctor, David Oyelowo playing MLK nope they never stood a chance but I bet if they were playing a slave or a drug dealer they would have had a chance smh.

  4. I’m sure she’s really mad for Will. I was shocked he didn’t get anything. Idris too. They killed their parts.

  5. Hmm I hope the black celebs are taking note. They don’t think we’re worthy unless we’re playing drug dealers, maids/nannies, slaves and singers. Oh and a white man’s s-xual object.

  6. See , this is why Tupac and Jada’s friendship was terrible when he passed .He told her that she wasn’t about the movement anymore , and went Hollywood once she got with Will .She’s being conveniently truthful..It’s her bias motives that patronize her all of a sudden , boycott stance .Always sooo PC until her super talented hubby gets snubbed , when they’ve been snubbing people of color since that white washed , cult ceremony began .Are we going to pretend that this movie ever had a chance against the powerful NFL?? Oscars , will only feel the burn once minorities boycott and the celebs turn down their awards period. It’s been more diversity in presidential nominees…
