Tyler Perry has made a fortune from his films, TV shows and plays, but that hasn’t stopped some of his critics from finding flaws in his work.

In fact, many have been vocal about their uneasiness with how most of Tyler’s black characters have been portrayed.

Tyler doesn’t appreciate it either.

  1. So because his momma and em are fat, that’s what he considers to be the norm for black women? Lmao if he doesn’t get this dumb sh-t out of here. All his sh-t is trash anyway.

    1. What odd reasoning. I’m not even a Tyler Perry fan, but he wasn’t saying fat black women are the norm, just that they exist and are everywhere.

      1. LOL. That’s exactly what he was saying dear. It’s the norm in HIS family. But whatever. I find YOUR reasoning odd and agree with Ms. Jackson.

    1. I mean that’s really the only issue people have with him. He’s not a good writer. We’ve seen people come through and make great black TV shows and movies with complex characters that don’t rely on stereotypes. It’s not that hard to do.

  2. What?! What his casts have looked like hasn’t been the issue. The boring and stereotypical storylines are…

  3. I still believe he’s a dong lover, and just used having that child as a cover up. Remeber L. Vandross? he was gay and ppl were scared to say it, when they even knew it was true. It’s time T.P. learn how to write and produce movies like an actual writer and Producer…. and stop making jack a-s black movies that are baffoonish and embarrassing. He seem to love doing woman Characters too much. like i said: he love sausages.

  4. If Tyler wants to be taken seriously as a creator/writer, he needs to produce higher quality work. Putting on a dress and pretending to be a stereotypical black woman with attitude is not impressive. And he misses the whole point being defensive here and acting like just because the women in his family are a certain way, it must be the norm for so many other black women, which is untrue. Why not make films that show a diverse range of black characters? Why must there always be a drug addict? Why must there always be a baby mama and baby daddy? Why must there always be a battered woman and an abuser? Why must there always be the stereotypical black woman with attitude who thinks she doesn’t need a man? Like is that all we are allowed to be in his movies and TV shows? He has to do better.

  5. What I don’t get is, why didn’t he call his family overweight instead of fat ?? Smdh , it sounds harsh when he says they are fat . Oh well , Tyler you were on to something when you first started , it is worn out because you lack versatility and a variety of substance . Be prolific , in other words .
