Most of social media was praising Teyana Taylor for the homage she paid to Lil Kim last night, but some Hip Hop heads questioned why Nicki Minaj wasn’t here to honor the legendary female rappers.
With Nicki’s controversial feud with the Queen Bee taking place earlier in her career, it’s probably not a surprise she wasn’t at the event.
Nicki remained silent during the whole ordeal, but her fans had plenty to say in her defense.
One fan even claimed Nicki’s significance in an event that had nothing to do with her says a lot, and Nicki apparently agreed since she liked the tweet:

It’s is odd that Nicki came in and became THE face for female rappers in just a few years. I may not be a stan but I can acknowledge she’s done pretty good for herself.

Queen Latifah and Eve still can rock a mic..that’s rap..not that gimmick annoying a-s sh-t Nicki does..Shawna underrated..rather listen to old school rap any day vs this crap they got out today..no substance
They were trying to drag Nicki for not showing up to a show they really didn’t want her at anyway. Now if she did go they would accuse her of trying to take Kim’s shine. Smh.

Teyana slayed that performance she is such a underrated performer.
I like Nicki however I don’t think any of the honorees need recognition from her. It goes without saying that she wouldn’t be where she is today if it wasn’t for any of them amongst others (Lauryn Hill, Eve, Foxy Brown, etc.)
