According to a new report, Cam Newton has changed his stance on racism due to being “trained” by a GOP consultant.

Race has played a role in some, if not most, of the criticism Newton has received over the years. He said it in January and he said it again to the nation’s most recognizable black publication. But since then, something has changed, and Newton has been operating under the politics of respectability and colorblindness.
Part of the shift has to do with GOP pollster and PR advisor Frank Luntz. Luntz has worked with the Panthers before—Deadspin outlined some of his work with them and Cam Newton in a piece from 2014, which included, as the article says, “a campaign to enhance the image of several players and the organization.” He was called in (by whom is unclear) this off-season to help Newton frame discussions on race among other topics, according to people close to Newton. Luntz, who declined comment on this story through a spokeswoman, is often credited with prompting the phrase “climate change” rather than global warming and helping Newt Gingrich with his 1990s “Contract With America.”
It’s also not hard to see where he stands on Kaepernick’s recent protests.

This makes it even worse. Really Cam?
This is the second story today that makes it clear how much racism is happening in Charlotte. You got the freaking football team in bed with the GOP and telling a black athlete and his family how to discuss racism. Ugh I feel like boycotting the Panthers now.
This is why I need Charlotte residents to stop comparing their city to the A. They are NOT there yet and may not ever be the way NC is going policy wise. I’m just waiting on the Falcons to jump stupid. I will be done!
This doesn’t give Cam a pass though. He’s a grown man. Is the money that important that he’s willing to go along with this? Colin Kaepernick is really exposing so many people right now. Including these sellout black athletes.

Sh-t this sounds about right. Are white people in power not always telling black people what we need to do and how we are allowed to feel? But Cam is letting this sh-t fly and that’s why I don’t f-ck with his c–n a-s. You don’t let money and fame dictate sh-t. By now, Cam has enough money to make sure his family is set for life. So he’s allowing his greed to make him throw his own people under a bus. F-ck him.
It’s not just the racist ones in power. Even the poor, powerless ones feel like they can tell minorities what we need to be doing. Slavery is over but they still think they own us. That’s what makes this so crazy.
I feel like Cam could have told ownership that he’s not ok with this. But whatever.
This is why we have to be careful who we support. And sadly there are still some of us who won’t let Cam or this team go.
