“We need to know what our vote really means and how to utilize it. But I don’t want us to get caught up in this protest,” McClurkin insisted on Get Up! Mornings With Erica Campbell. “The protests do nothing but rile [people] up. It causes people’s anger to rise up and it gives us a false sense of involvement.”
Campbell disagreed, speaking in favor of protests and the change they can bring about.
“It stops their progress. It makes the police have to respond and they have to spend money, they have to clear the streets and they have to organize,” she said. “So it makes them pay a little more attention…”
McClurkin disagreed, however. He said that he did not vote for Trump because of his “lack of policy, misogynistic ideals, [and] racism,” but he still insisted that protesting was not the way to go.
“Now is our time to pray for him. This is the job of the church,” he said. “Let the world protest but the job of the church now is to go into prayer and pray that, number one, he succeeds, because if he fails, we have to deal with the consequences as a nation.”
When will black people learn that defending Trump is idiotic? This man will not ever go out of his way to defend black people. My goodness some of us are so dumb.
When will black people also learn that praying isn’t the only answer? I literally rolled my eyes when I read the latter part of this interview. Faith without works is dead. Period.

People protested when he was running yet he still got in, people are protesting now but he’s still president so at this point I think Donnie is right, pray because clearly protesting gets 0 results
Protesting and boycotting is how the Civil Rights Movement accomplished as much as it did. It’s disturbing to see so many black Christians downplay what leads to progress. They should just admit the truth, which is they are Trump supporters.
We’ll see if these two get back up from this fall here…
Donnie and the rest of his ilk need to let people be. If they want to protest a racist president, they have every right. Trump damn sure ain’t praying for none of us. This is the same man who said he doesn’t even have to ask God for forgiveness. But I’ll let these Christians keep doing the most to defend him.
