Black Ink Crew Chicago Recap: Ryan Fires Danielle + Gets in Altercation with Van

Ryan and Rachel are in a very good place.

Ryan says that he realizes that Rachel is the one for him, and she’s truly his soulmate. He’s the happiest he’s ever been since they have reconnected.

After going to hear Obama speak, he realizes that Rachel is his Michelle.

“She’s the mother of my child. My soulmate. Just the woman that still makes my mouth salivate.” – Ryan

Now that he has a strong foundation at home, he wants to just focus on them and stay out of drama. He’s been touring to try to take things to the next level.

Charmaine has a new boo.

Charmaine is now an air personality for an iHeartRadio station, while still managing 9 Mag.

She’s also in a happy relationship with Neak.

Ryan returns to the shop after his Ryan Henry Tattoo Tour.

He brings back merchandise from the tour, as Charmaine picks on him for looking like an 80s R&B singer on his posters.

Ryan doesn’t mind the teasing because he feels like the tour was a success because it allowed him to expand the 9Mag brand outside of Chicago.

However, he does get annoyed with Charmaine after she cuts up one of the new 9Mag t-shirts to fit her taste in fashion, and twerks around the shop.

“Who the f*ck is you to just cut up some got damn march? The merchandise that actually pays into your salary when you could be doing something completely else more productive.” – Ryan

When Charmaine starts hitting splits on the shop’s floor, Phor playfully picks her up to put her in the corner but drops her immediately on the couch when Nikki enters the shop.

“What the f*ck?” – Nikki

Nikki walks over to bring Phor some lunch.

They are now in a serious relationship.

“Over the last few months, me and Nikki went from kicking it, to being committed. And that’s a very big step. Especially after dealing with all this bullsh*t with Kat. And with Kat not being around, we finally over that and now we’re in an official relationship. And everything is going great.” – Phor

Thor and Nikki also live in the same building,

He’s very proud of the fact that Nikki is a hair stylist who owns her own shop but he is nervous that there could be drama with them living in the same building.

Ryan proposes they throw a party to celebrate the 4th anniversary of 9Mag.

He wants a casino theme. Ryan tells everyone to bring their significant other, except Danielle.

“I don’t know how I feel about Terrence being here. You know what I’m saying? I’m trying to avoid bullsh*t.” – Ryan

Danielle says in a green screen interview that she understands that Ryan thinks Terrence was “an a*shole” to him because he was drunk on their trip, but she doesn’t think it’s that serious.

She also wants Ryan to understand that she and Terrence have worked out their issues and they are now in a committed relationship.

“Leave Terrence at home, man.” – Ryan

Kat gets a fresh start in LA.

Kat moved to LA six months ago to expand her horizons and take a break from the drama in Chicago. She doesn’t miss the shop or the drama with Nikki and Phor.

She now has her own tattoo shop, Kat Tat, out in West Hollywood and she tattoos a lot of celebrities.

“I’m living the good life b*tches.” – Kat

Young M.A. comes by the shop to get some ink and flew in all the way from Brooklyn.

Van isn’t on good terms with Ryan.

Van is upset that Ryan went on a solo tour because doing so has affected his pockets. But Ryan says he did the tour to make sure his family is good.

Now that Ryan is back in town, Van is ready to confront him.

“Things changed when Ryan decided to go on his solo tour by himself. Originally it was supposed to be everybody at 9Mag. He switched it up on us just like that.” – Van

Van feels like Ryan uses Rachel and his family as an excuse to “bail” on the rest of the 9Mag squad.

“It’s really jut taking money out of my pockets, Phor’s pockets…just trying to keep all the money to himself. He’s just being greedy. That’s all.” – Van

When Van walks in the shop, he rips up one of the posters from Ryan’s tour.

“I totally get why Van is mad at Ryan for going on tour. So he’s really in his feelings right now. But who you think you is? Hulk Hogan?” – Phor

Van also calls Ryan for getting new shirts without consulting with anyone else from 9 Mag. He questions Ryan about who will profit from the shirts.

“9Mag. What the f*ck you mean?” – Ryan

Ryan is annoyed because he feels like it’s absurd that Van believes he deserves a cut of the money the shop makes when he doesn’t own it. He also tries to explain that the merchandise sold is to help raise funds for the shop and pay the shop’s bills.

Van tells him that he helped build 9Mag.

“F*ck 9Mag. This is the Ryan Henry Shop.” – Van

Van is the only one who calls Ryan out but he believes the rest of the shop feels the same way.

Don escorts him out the shop to cool off.

Charmaine gives some more details about her budding romance with Neak.

She says they met in college but started being romantic six months ago.

She says he is a “tech genius” but isn’t sure what that means. Despite that, she claims he has a lot of money and even took her to Paris.

They now live together in a penthouse.

Terrence and Danielle come by for a double date dinner.

Danielle throws a little shade in her green screen interview.

“Who is this bougie b*tch, Charmaine? Just a few months ago, your car was getting repo-ed. Remember where you came from, okay cousin?” – Danielle

In a green screen interview, Charmaine praises Neak and says he’s a huge upgrade from Don.

“This is how it looks like to date a real n*gga. How does it look like, Ashley?” – Charmaine

Danielle brings up the fact that she thinks it’s ridiculous that Ryan doesn’t want Terrence to attend the anniversary party and she thinks Van is right about Ryan.

She’s also upset that Ryan posted about Terrence on social media and his family members urged him to check Terrence for what happened on the show.

“I didn’t know I had fans in the street like that.” – Terrence

Danielle says she will check Ryan as soon as she gets the chance.

Ryan confides in Rachel.

Ryan tells Rachel that Van is really starting to frustrate him with his behavior.

Rachel thinks Van has always been jealous of Ryan.

“At the end of the day, Ryan is the boss of 9Mag. So if he wants to go on a tour, he can go on a tour, period.” – Rachel

She also tells Ryan that it’s time for him to make some hiring and firing decisions.

He agrees.

Danielle confronts Ryan.

Danielle calls Ryan out for posting about Terrence on social media and banning him from the party.

“I feel like you’ve been disrespecting my man and I have a problem with that.” – Danielle

Ryan asks her to clarify.

“You come out of the blue and ban him from the anniversary party. And then you post about him on social media. That’s bullsh*t. You pride yourself on being a real n*gga. Guess what? You have my number. Hit me up. If there’s an issue, don’t sneak diss on social media.” – Danielle

“Who you yelling at?” – Ryan

In a green screen interview, Ryan says that Danielle is taking her anger out on the wrong person because Terrence not only disrespected him but he disrespected her too on the trip they took last season.

They get into a shouting match.

Ryan calls Terrence a “P*ssy a*s n*gga.”

“Only b*tches post sh*t on social media! F*ck you!” – Danielle

“F*ck you!” – Ryan

Ryan then fires her and says he’s done being a nice guy.

Don and Ashely are in a much better place.

In a green screen interview, Ashley says that she and Don have been trying to get their family life on track since the wedding.

Now that Ashley has finally developed a good relationship with Don’s baby mama Whitney. his child with Whitney, Kinleigh is around a lot.

In fact, Kinleigh spends every other weekend with Ashley and Don, and their son DJ is very close to her.

However, Ashley is tired of her job but Don doesn’t want her to quit because they have mouths to feed. Plus, Ashley has only been at the job for a couple of months.

She’s tired of the long hours and wants to be around more for the kids.

Determined to leave her job, Ashley warns Don that she won’t let go of her dream.

Ryan doesn’t waste any time in replacing Danielle with a new receptionist.

Charmaine meets the new receptionist, Alonitza. She’s shocked Ryan hired someone else so quickly.

She tells Ryan that she thinks he moved way too fast and she understands why Danielle is upset. She thinks Ryan is out of line to take shots at Terrence on social media.

Ryan thinks he made the right call and he has to stop letting his employees disrespect him.

He says the interview went so well that he hired her on the spot.

When Van comes to the shop, he gets angry when he finds out Danielle has been fired. He steps outside to FaceTime her. He tells her that she’s already been replaced and he’s angry no one told him about it.

Danielle says she feels like Ryan doesn’t care about anyone else.

“I’m so sick of this sh*t that I’m ready to choke somebody.” – Van

Danielle surprises Kat in LA.

Danielle fills Kat in on the drama with Ryan and tells her she was actually fired. Kat understands how Danielle feels because she was also ousted. But she’s thankful for it because she’s grown as a result of it.

After Danielle starts to cry, Danielle tells Van that she recently had a miscarriage and she’s still processing it.

She says Terrence was very supportive throughout the ordeal but it makes her wonder what she’s really doing with her life. Career wise, she doesn’t feel like she’s reached her full potential.

Danielle is not where she wants to be in life and she’s miserable.

Kat understands her pain and says being in abusive relationship in the past is how she can relate to Danielle.

At the 9 Mag Anniversary party, everyone appears to be having a great time.

There’s plenty of alcohol and people.

Charmaine shows up with her new boo Neak. Ashley throws shade in a green screen interview.

“Charmaine, Queen of the Side Chicks, finally has her own man. Thank God.” – Ashley

The gang toasts to Charmaine’s new relationship. Not too long after, Ashley tells Don that she wants to ask Neak some questions. Don is not amused.

Don reaches his breaking point.

Ashley introduces herself to Neak and he says they have been together for three months. She tells him that Charmaine slept with Don knowing he wasn’t single and had a child with her.

Ashley tells Neak to keep an eye out on Charmaine because she cuts up when she’s drunk and she’s a wild girl.

Neak is unbothered and says he loves that Charmaine is comfortable enough to be herself.

Don confronts Ashley and tells her she stepped out of line.

“You pissing me off for real!” – Don

They start screaming at at each other outside of the party and he punches one of the cameras.

He hops in a car and drives off recklessly.

In a green screen interview, he reveals that he’s fed up with Ashley and isn’t happy that she wants to quit her job. So the Neak situation was the last straw.

Van and Ryan clash at the party.

During the party, Ryan gives a speech. In the middle of the speech, Van turns his back on Ryan. When Van doesn’t get a shout out, everyone notices. Then Ryan starts trolling Van, and says he only gives a shout out to the “real n*ggas” and *f*ck the other n*ggas.” Van eventually snaps.

Van throws the dice at him and they begin fighting. Security quickly breaks them up.

  1. At the end of the day, Ryan is the boss. You can’t curse out your boss and expect to still have a job when it’s said and done.

  2. Can is doing way too much, Ryan is the boss not him. All of them feel that Ryan owes them something. They couldn’t work anywhere else and act the way they do.
