Safaree Compares Mona Scott Young to Oprah + Tanisha Thomas Disagrees

Recently, Safaree went on Instagram and gave “Love and Hip Hop” creator and executive producer Mona Scott tremendous praise.

He went on the platform and thanked Mona for giving him a chance to revitalize his career. He also says she is a major part of the television and music culture, giving multiple people a chance to shine on television.

Where many feel his praise went left is when he compared Mona to Oprah.

On the post he wrote the following below:

When I had the world against me without even knowing who I was you were the only person who gave me a fair shot.. didn’t judge didn’t assume didn’t care who I was with or not. Had to be 1 of the darkest times in my life.. imagine helping build an empire walking away from it with nothing and having everyone shun you just because you’re not the bigger star. IDGAF what any1 has to say @monascottyoung you are out here saving lives and entertaining millions across the world.. how could you hate on a black woman for doing that!! This is our oprah wether you wanna admit it or not!!! Take it how you want.. it’s facts!!! *sidenote* I’m booked and busy.. love you!! #stuntgang

Many people did not agree with his comparison of Mona Scott Young to Oprah. This included “Bad Girls Club “alum Tanisha Thomas. She left a comment on the post that expressed strong disagreement with the comparison.

She feels that Mona’s television programs show African-Americans in a negative light, constantly fighting with one another on the show.

She wrote the following:

Nothing against you at all. But she’s no Oprah to me. While I get that she may have given you an opportunity and a chance and has done great for you in particular… we can’t stray from the fact that she’s destroyed and exploited many lives as well. Not placing all the blame on her as I know how how dark and shady this business and production can be. It’s a blessing and a curse and sometimes at the same time. Either way wishing you nothing but the best in your future endeavors

  1. I agree with Tanisha 100%. Mona may have given him a platform but that’s because shes trying to exploit his situation. And look what happened? He’s more of a laughing stock than anything else, imo. Too bad he doesn’t see that.

  2. “Our” Oprah? Nah, speak for your damn self Safaree. She’s your Oprah but Oprah is my Oprah. Thanks!

  3. I see Mona still has her minions going in overdrive to kiss her a-s since Joseline exposed her. The Oprah comparison is a reach Mona. Sit down.
