Noni wants back in the band and has taken desperate action to get there.
Despite being kicked out of the band, Noni decides to play her saxophone outside of Cecil’s house to convince him to give her a second chance by being allowed back into the marching band.
He walks out his house and just glares at her before playing “Backstabbers” and driving off.
Eva has a meeting about the university settling with Terrence’s family.
Eva says the school can’t move forward until they have settled with Terrence’s family.
However, settling will put the school in a tight financial situation. They are near bankruptcy.
Eva wants them to pay the money so the school can move on. She feels like his death is haunting her. She starts getting emotional and excuses herself to speak to the campus counselor.
Dean Carlton has a talk with Junior about his terrible grades.
Junior confirms being kicked off the football team and he wants Carlton to have his grades changed.
Carlton refuses and tells him to get his act together because school should be his first priority.
While in class, Madison gets sick to her stomach and throws up in the classroom in front of everyone including her professor, Ella.
“I feel like sh*t.” – Madison
Apparently there is a virus spreading around the campus and many students are sick.
Eva is told it may be food poisoning.
While at the campus clinic, Eva runs into Coach Hardwick and Sydney. She tells Sydney to head to her house and she will inform Madison that she left by her request.
She doesn’t want Sydney to catch the virus.
A nurse comes to Eva and says that the virus is actually the Norovirus. This freaks Eva out and she actually darts out of the clinic before telling Madison that she made Sydney leave.
Eva has a nightmare.
In the dream, she’s being chased down by a deceased Terrence. He demands that she pays his family the money. She wakes up and falls out of the bed.
Noni’s old roommate hangs out with Cedric.
He admits he still worries about her after her horrific hazing incident and she says she is just fine even though she still gets headaches from time to time.
She goes over her new rap song and Cedric is not impressed. He gives her the side eye.
Eva goes to the campus kitchen and learns the virus came to be because the refrigerator is broken.
Madison buys some soda from another student and gets a call from Sydney.
Sydney calls to check on her but Madison ends the call quickly because she’s upset Sydney left her alone in the clinic.
Eva tells Ella she’s been having nightmares and she’s really stressed out about the school’s finances. Ella tells her they still can’t go into the reserves.
“I’ll figure it out.” – Eva
Eva goes by to the campus clinic to help out with the sick students, and one of them passes out. An ambulance is called.
Cecil gets great news.
While out at the bar with Carlton, Cecil gets a phone call from his doctor and learns he is in remission.
They celebrate and dance to James Brown.
Sydney spends some time with a guy she likes.
They watch a movie and start making out.
Although she originally believed she was ready to become intimate with him, she changes her mind as she takes off her clothes.
She has flashbacks of being raped by Terrence.
She tells the guy that she can’t do it. He wants to talk things out because he’s worried about her considering her past, and Sydney gets defensive.
She tells him not worry about her.
Sydney doesn’t want him to see her as a victim and have sympathy for her.
She tells him she wants to be taken home and he obliges.
Eva and Coach Hardwick visit Terrence’s parents’ house, Eva snaps.
They tell them they may not be able to afford writing a check because they need to buy a new refrigerator for the cafe. Terrence’s dad asks if they can possibly build a gym in Terrence’s honor and Coach Hardwick says they can’t afford it for now.
Terrence’s mom then blames Sydney for Terrence’s death.
“She killed my son, is she sorry or not?” – Terrence’s mom
This upsets Eva and she goes off telling her Terrence raped Sydney and should be in jail.
Junior is told by Ella that he can retake his test. She won’t give him a date and tells him to stay ready. He’s thankful he may have a shot at getting back on the football team by improving his grades.
Bryson continues to act weird and leave without telling Cedric where he is going.
Cedric hears Noni’s former roommate’s improved track and loves it.
After the quarantine is lifted in the dorms, Sydney comes by to see Madison who is entertaining other formerly sick neighbors and eating pizza.
She is cold towards Sydney because she feels like Sydney didn’t have her back while she was sick.
Cecil gives Noni hope.
Noni plays the saxophone in front of Cecil’s house again, and he storms out to give her a piece of his mind.
He tells her she’s a spoiled 17 year old who was also born to wealthy parents. He doesn’t feel she understands what consequences are. Sydney tells him that she only gave his music to his rival band director to get even with Danny.
Cecil says he will consider letting her back in the band and he wants her to go home. She’s happy to hear this.
Eva has another nightmare about Terrence and Sydney wakes her up to check on her. Eva asks Sydney how she’s been able to cope because she’s struggling.
“It takes time.” – Sydney
“We’ll do it together, okay?” – Eva
They console each other.
