‘The Quad’ Recap: Eva Catches Sydney & Jason in the Act + BoJohn Snaps

Eva tries to convince Sydney that she is handling her addiction to pills.

Dean Carlton tells his wife he had “that crazy dream” again. She says it hasn’t happened in a while.

She also reminds him that he’s doing God’s work on campus. His wife wants him to know she wants that alone to be enough for him. He says it is.

Eva comes by Sydney’s dorm room.

They bring up what happened with Eva and her freakout over Sydney dumping her pills.

She says she overreacted, Sydney says she acting like “a person with a drug problem.”

Eva says she’s cutting down on her dosage and hands the house keys back to Sydney.

BoJohn has a conversation with Coach Eugene.

He tells the coach that he’s clear to play and his injuries have healed.

Eugene doesn’t buy this and feels BoJohn needs more time. But BoJohn feels his position is in jeopardy. The coach assures him this is not the case and insists he take some more time away from playing.

Sydney walks in on Miles having a flirty conversation with another student. She gets a little jealous but tells Miles that she wants to go to his next meeting regarding the merger with Atlanta State. She is working on another documentary.

He reluctantly agrees to this because he wants the exposure.

Dean Carlton’s nephew Dwight comes by and begs him to convince his father to let him go to GAMU.

But Carlton says he’s tried already and it got nowhere.

“Your father wants what he thinks is best for you.” – Carlton

His nephew gets frustrated and decides to leave. But not before asking Carlton’s wife Ula to try again to convince his dad to attend GAMU.

After he leaves, Carlton tells Ula what their nephew does is not their business.

She snaps and says that every young black male’s future is their business.

On campus, Junior is preparing to retake Ella’s exam. Ella tells Junior good luck.

At the meeting with Atlanta State’s students, an Atlanta State student says Bryan Bean is the billionaire pushing for buying out Smith Hall.

This angers the GAMU students and they end the meeting frustrated.

Eva’s former boy toy Jason angrily greets Miles at the meeting and Miles asks him what he’s doing with Sydney.

He responds that he’s not doing anything she doesn’t want to do.

BoJohn clashes with Tiesha, again.

Sydney defends attending a meeting with the students of GAMU. Eva calls her out for using her privileges of being her daughter and she denies this. After Eva gets testy with the receptionist for not getting in touch with Flip Lawson, Sydney gets annoyed and walks out.

After BoJohn tells Tiesha he’s going to go work out off campus, she tells him he’s not supposed to be doing that. He tells her she shouldn’t care what he’s doing because she doesn’t want to date him because he’s white.

Tiesha tells him that’s not true but he’s not hearing it.

She walks off angrily.

Ella and Eva get together for a evening drink.

Eva tells Ella that they should have sold off land like she wanted to do so they could have prevented the merger.

Ella asks if she can prove that Flip Lawson pulled a dirty move. Eva says she can’t because it looks clean on paper.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t really see until now that you really care about this school.” – Ella

“Of course I do and I worked my a*s off.” – Eva

Carlton and Eva get nowhere with Dwight’s father, BoJohn snaps.

Dwight attends a football game with his father Lenny. His father is not impressed.

He is introduced to Eva by Carlton.

Lenny asks what they can offer Dwight.

She suggests they have dinner at her place to discuss the details.

Carlton gets salty and whispers in Eva’s ear to chill out so he can enjoy the game with his family.

He then whispers to his wife that she should now be able to see why he can’t wait for Eva to be gone.

As the game starts, BoJohn runs on the field with his uniform on, much to Eugene’s surprise.

The backup quarterback calls him out as Eugene runs over to calm things down and check BoJohn for placing himself in the game.

“Get off my got d*mn field.” – Eugene

“Why? So you can make room for Jenkins?”  – BoJohn

Eugene yells for BoJohn to be removed from the field. BoJohn yells that he’s the quarterback and this embarrasses Eva and Carlton in front of Dwight and Lenny.

Lenny says that the world is diverse so Dwight should be at an university that reflects that. Carlton then asks if he wants Dwight to turn out like OJ Simpson.

He gets angry by this question and leaves, forcing Dwight to leave with him.

Later, BoJohn gets called out by Tiesha and Junior for his actions.

They get nowhere and Tiesha gets frustrated. She demands Junior walks her to her room.

BoJohhn has a breakdown when left alone and punches holes though the door before crying on the floor.

In this weak moment, he calls his dad and asks for him to come and get him.

Coach Hardwick later comes by BoJohn’s room to discuss what happened on the field.

He doesn’t feel like talking to the coach, so Eugene decides to just sit down and give him some company. They sit together in silence.

Cedric calls his mom and comes clean.

He admits to her that Browyn is pregnant. His mother gets upset and hangs up the phone.

“I can’t.” – Cedric’s mother

Sydney goes out on a date to the comedy club with Jason.

They have a great time and make out on the street while strolling.

“I’m not ready for this night to end.” – Sydney

She suggests they go to Eva’s house and get some wine. He agrees.

Eva catches up with Flip Lawson.

At a dinner event, Carlton asks what Eva plans to do about BoJohn since they both want his nephew there. Eva doesn’t have an answer.

After she walks off to talk to Eugene, Cecil, Carlton and Ella confirm they have all voted to get Eva out as GAMU president.

Unaware of this, Eva ends up running into Flip Lawson.

He says that he was just trying to keep GAMU from closing. She says her attorney agrees that what he did was unethical.

He reminds her that GAMU can’t afford more lawyers.

Eva says she has plenty of lawyers and she’s ready for a legal battle.

Carlton’s wife has a shocking moment at home.

When Carlton gets back home, he tells his wife Ula that he’s disgusted that GAMU is being taken over by a PWI.

He’s angry about what Flip Lawson did.

This turns on his wife. She loves how passionate he is about the university.

He gives her a head start to the bedroom.

“Just make sure you put on some Luther.” – Carlton

While Carlton stays behind in the kitchen for a second, he hears a commotion upstairs. It sounds like his wife may have had a medical emergency like a heart attack, and fallen on the floor.

Sydney and Eva’s former boy toy Jason drink wine and start making out at Eva’s house.

While in the kitchen, he has flashbacks of getting freaky with Eva in their kitchen.

He snaps out of it and tells her he’s been wanting to sleep with her since seeing her.

They begin doing it on the counter tops.

Cedric is in his room, going over his new verses.

He gets a knock on the door and it’s Noni.

She tells Cedric that Ebonie has been crying over him and confused about what to do.

He shows her the text message Ebonie sent him. She told him not to contact her again never.

Noni says she’s just trying to be a friend to him and he says he doesn’t need any more friends. He then kicks her out.

“Get out!” – Cedric

Eva catches Sydney and Jason in the act.

Eugene walks with Eva to her house after the dinner event.

They discuss BoJohn. He says he thinks BoJohn needs some therapy because his father is abusive. He tells Eva that because she doesn’t understand this, she should recruit student athletes.

Exhausted from the day, Eva suggest they talk about this later.

When they get into Eva’s house, they walk in on Sydney having a passionate moment with Jason in the kitchen.

Eugene tells Jason he needs to leave.

“I swear, I will kill you.” – Eva

After Jason agrees to leave, he sniffs his fingers, symbolizing that he has Sydney’s scent on his fingers. This sets Eva off.

She loses it and grabs a wine bottle to attack her ex. Eugene restrains her.

After that, Eva demands Eugene leaves her alone to talk to Sydney.

Their conversation starts off intense.

Sydney accuses Eva of being high on pills. This does nothing but angers Eva more.

“If you think I’ma let you leave and run after that bastard, you are sorely mistaken.” – Eva

  1. When the hell are Eugene and Eva going to get together? I know I’m the not the only one seeing the attraction between them.

    1. This is the million dollar question. It’s inevitable so why drag it out? Give the people what we want please.

  2. I wish Eva would just be honest about who Jason is. That way Sydney can understand why she needs to cut him off.
