If people figured massive success would change Cardi B, so far they are completely wrong.
Her recent interview with GQ has been released, and she was very open about a variety of topics.
Even her butt wasn’t off the table.
She confirmed she got illegal filler injections when she was 21 years old.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
“All right, here’s the thing,” begins Cardi B when I ask how her body came to be. “When I was 21, I did not have enough meat on my body—if I was to get lipo, I wouldn’t have fat for my a*s.”
Cardi B, as we know her, took shape about four years ago, when she was already a few years into her stripping career. Though she did not know it at the time, the aforementioned investments in her silhouette would prove the boost that would enable her to scale her first level of fame.
She wanted fat for her a*s because (1) her boyfriend had recently cheated on her with a woman who, per Cardi, “had a fat, big a*s” and (2) she’d observed that her colleagues with big a*ses made more money than she did stripping, regardless of dancing technique.
Cardi claimed her a*s from the universe in a basement apartment in Queens, where, for $800, a woman injected her buttocks with filler. “They don’t numb your a*s with anything,” she says. “It was the craziest pain ever. I felt like I was gonna pass out. I felt a little dizzy. And it leaks for, like, five days.”
The circumference of the final product cannot be determined beforehand, which makes this procedure risky even among illegal medical procedures. While Cardi was happy with hers, she planned to return for a touch-up. “But by the time I was gonna go get it, the lady got locked up ’cause she’s supposedly killed somebody. Well”—Cardi clarifies with c’est la vie insouciance—”somebody died on her table.”
I respect her honesty but she really does have low self esteem.
Dang these women go through a lot for these Instagram bodies.
So these chicks are willing to risk their lives for a fake a–? Tragic.
This phenomenon of women of color getting all these things done to look a certain way is really sad to watch. Sad that a woman lost her life. That could have easily been Cardi and she would not be where she is today.
Her honesty is refreshing.
This reminds me of that episode of She’s Gotta Have It when her friend got those legal injections and was in so much pain. Then after it healed somewhat and she got cocky, her booty started leaking at the strip club. The things some women go thorough because they feel inadequate!
Some sh– I will never understand. It’s like health risks don’t even matter. We just saw K go on TV and find out that sh– she got injected with could have killed her if she waited any longer to get it removed. Are Instagram likes, stripper tips and DMs worth it? H-ll no. Cardi probably still thinks she would not be popping right now if she didn’t get that sh– too. It’s sad as h-ll.
