Watch: Iyanla Helps Diamond Reynolds Face Trauma From Philando Castile’s Death

Can Diamond Reynolds escape the trauma of her fiance’s shooting?

That’s the big question during the “Iyanla: Fix My Life” two-part mid-season finale which airs tonight.

During the two-parter, Iyanla sits down with Sybrina Fulton and Diamond Reynolds. Sybrina is the mother of Trayvon Martin. Meanwhile, Diamond Renyolds was the fiancée of Philando Castile, the man gunned down during a traffic stop by police in Minnesota.

In the preview for Diamond’s episode, Diamond shares her traumatic story with Iyanla. During the story, Iyanla interrupts Diamond when she says Philando “passed away.”

“No, Phil didn’t pass away.” – Iyanla

Diamond, with some prodding from Iyanla, eventually says Philando was killed and begins to cry. Iyanla asks her if she can “sit” in the fact that Philando was killed. Diamond says she can’t.

“No, ’cause I don’t put ‘Rest In Peace’ in front of his name. I don’t want to believe that he’s gone.” – Diamond

When Diamond tells Iyanla it’s been 468 days since Philando’s death, Iyanla asks why she counts the days.

“Because he was with me 7 days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days out the year.” – Diamond

In another clip, Iyanla brings Sybrina to talk to Diamond and provides advice. She tells Diamond that there are people who are willing to help her, like Iyanla. She also tells Diamond to leave behind negative people.

“With everyone that’s negative, you leave it there. Everyone that’s positive, you take something with you.” – Sybrina

Sybrina then gives Diamond her favorite bible verse; Proverbs 3:5-6.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not unto your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him. And he shall direct your path.” – Sybrina

  1. This episode was truly so hard to watch. I’m looking forward to the day when God’s Kingdom does away with all of the injustices mankind brings upon one another. ??
