RHOP Recap: Ashley Confronts Her Mother + Monique Reveals Recent Heartbreak

Candiace wants Chris to do better.

Candiace still feels some kind of way about Chris jumping off the balcony into the pool at Chris Samuels’ birthday party.

“I’ma need for him to have some couth about himself.” – Candiace

Despite feeling disappointed about it, she’s going to let it go…for now.

Her mom, Dorothy, is staying at their condo, and she comes by about once a month, much to the annoyance of Candiace.

Dorothy and Candiace own the house. But Chris and Candiace live there and Dorothy has her own floor called “The Diva Den.”

Candiace wants Dorothy to stop popping by so much after they get married.

While they eat breakfast, Candiace tells Dorothy that she’s bossy and stresses her out. Dorothy is unbothered and plans to keep doing what she wants.

Monique and Robyn vent.

Back at the house, Monique is still feeling overwhelmed about not having a nanny.

She tells Chris and her family about her argument with Robyn over her fan page.

Gizelle and Robyn catch up.

They discuss Gizelle’s successful pop up shop for Every Hue in the Hamptons.

The conversation then changes into Robyn’s blowup with Monique.

Monique says she feels insulted that Robyn thinks she would pay someone to run her fan page because if she had anything to say to Robyn, she’d do it herself.

She’s irritated that Robyn has so much to say on how Monique spends her money.

“Like, who does that?”- Monique

Robyn then brings up Ashley’s recent comments about Juan to Gizelle.

“Now this is where it goes bad.” – Gizelle

“I had to walk away.” – Robyn

Gizelle says she’s disappointed that everyone has beef and she hopes she can find a way to bring everyone back together.

She later meets with her ghostwriter Courtney about penning a book about her life, in particular, her former marriage to a pastor.

“I’m ready now and I’m super excited.” – Gizelle

Courtney warns Gizelle to speak to her loved ones first and make sure they are okay with her doing this.

In a green screen interview, Gizelle says she doesn’t want to embarrass her ex.

Ashley meets with her therapist.

She says that Michael is not happy with Ashley wanting to keep taking care of her mother financially.

During the conversation, she tells her therapist about her mother not dumping her boyfriend, after they bought her a house, like they agreed.

It is also revealed that Ashley’s mother raised her alone because her father left them when she was small.

So she feels like she is obligated to take care of her mom.

Her marriage to Michael will end if she doesn’t set boundaries.

The therapist discovers that Ashley’s mother met her longtime boyfriend when Ashley was in kindergarten. She made Ashley live with her grandparents so she could live with a boyfriend.

A year later she lived with her mother again.

She holds back tears as she reveals to the therapist that this part of her life is still hurtful. Especially since she’s seen her mother have different boyfriends and they weren’t good men.

The boyfriend her mother has now has been in the picture for 15 years. He’s her sister’s father.

Her mother works in a nursing home and the boyfriend doesn’t have a job. So her mother supports him and Ashley’s sister.

Ashley says that it’s hard for her to be okay with Michael doing things for her because she feels selfish doing so.

The therapist tells her Michael wants to be with her because of who she is, not what she can do for him.

So she encourages Ashley to set boundaries with her mom.

Karen and Gizelle meet up.

Gizelle apologizes for her shady t-shirt but Karen isn’t convinced the apology is sincere. But Gizelle says she had no idea things would go left.

“See, I thought I was being funny.” – Gizelle

“You were malicious, you were hurtful, and you were absolutely wrong, and it was gutter ball trash.” – Karen

In a green screen interview, Gizelle throws shade.

“Karen does not feel the need to ever move forward with anybody until she has gotten everything off of her big fat chest. Oh, it’s not big anymore. She took off the breast implants.” – Gizelle

To get even with Gizelle, Karen tells her to pay for the food and she then orders the most expensive things on the menu.

She tells Gizelle she’s on “time out.”

Gizelle then invites Karen to her garden party and tells her about the book she’s writing.

“Walk lightly.” – Karen

Although Karen is still being difficult, Gizelle is glad to have her friend back.

Chris and Monique go to the pastor’s home for some counseling.

Monique reveals that she had a miscarriage a month ago. She tells her pastor and first lady that she doesn’t know if she’s dealt with it yet. Chris says he was hurt by it, but he wanted to make sure Monique was okay.

She’s been keeping busy to take her mind off of it. This worries Chris because she hasn’t really cried about it.

Candiace tells her sister Crystal that she’s going to need more of her time to run their hair business. Their mother wants to get involved, and Candiace doesn’t want this. However, their mother is the one who invested in the business.

The ladies arrive for Gizelle’s garden party.

Karen still isn’t talking to Charrisse.

When Charrisse begins to speak, Karen shuts her down fast.

“I know you’re not talking.” – Karen

Charrisse then says Karen has had plenty to say about her to other people.

Ashley and Monique arrive together.

When everyone sits down, Gizelle reads from her book and tells everyone she used a ghost writer. The character based on her is named Ginger.

Monique shades her in a green screen interview and says Gizelle needs a “ghost reader” because she can’t read.

Gizelle says that since the character is loosely based on her, there will be differences.

Karen says that she feels that the character has too much in common with Gizelle and she could have some legal problems.

After that, Monique asks how the kids are going to handle this book. Gizelle says that the kids have to deal with real life messiness from their father so it should be a breeze.

The subject changes and Gizelle says she wants the group to have fun again.

Since the biggest drama is between Robyn and Ashley, she tells them to talk it out.

Ashley explains she cares about Robyn but feels she shouldn’t stay with Juan for their kids.

Robyn says she’s also staying because they have been through a lot to “get to a better place.”

“You have repeatedly disrespected me, do you expect me to like you?” – Robyn

After Gizelle tries to push the conversation further, Robyn gets upset and says she doesn’t want to talk any more about her family.

“I’m not going to say anything else. My issue is with you.” – Ashley

“What is the issue?! What have I done to you?!”- Robyn

Ashley says she is constantly hearing that Robyn has ill feelings towards her. Robyn says she does and can. Ashley says Robyn hasn’t liked her since the first day they met. Robyn says it’s because Ashley humped her on the rooftop jokingly.

Gizelle tells Ashley that she can’t get to know someone by constantly throwing things in their face.

“When it comes to Robyn, just mind your business.” – Gizelle

So Ashley says she is getting therapy to work on herself.

Karen commends her for getting therapy.

Charrisse say Ashley needs to let Robyn live her life the way she wants.

Next up is Robyn and Monique.

Robyn says she didn’t mean to cause drama at Monique’s party.

Monique then says she doesn’t like Robyn’s sly comments about how she’s spending money.

Gizelle says that maybe Monique should stop going from 0 to 100 and try 0 to 50.

In a green screen interview, Monique says the miscarriage makes her not want to deal with petty drama.

She and Robyn agree that they are good with each other.

Ashley apologizes to Robyn and says she doesn’t want them to be in a bad place anymore. Robyn accepts.

Gizelle is elated that the get together was a success.

The talk happens.

Ashley meets with her mother Sheila to talk about Michael’s concerns

Her mother says Michael doesn’t return her phone calls and she can’t just dump her boyfriend.

“He’s zapping the life out of you everyday!” – Ashley

She goes on to say that her mother’s confidence has evaporated and her boyfriend has pushed her away from her family.

“Do you ever look at some of the positives?” – Sheila

“There are none. I’ve lived with him. How many times has he cussed me out?” – Ashley

“He’s gotten much better.” – Sheila

Ashley says in a green screen interview that when her mom met her boyfriend, he was living in a tent. She’s convinced her mother would be too if she didn’t have Ashley.

She apologizes for getting so upset and tells Sheila she will never cut her off. Instead, she hands her mother a checklist to help her organize her life. She thinks this is a happy medium and Michael will be pleased to see the progress made.

After doing this, she asks Sheila if she will leave her boyfriend.

“I’m going to work on him.” -Sheila

This upsets Ashley and Sheila says she “needed” her boyfriend.

Ashley feels like nothing will change but hugs her mother anyway. On the way out of Ashley’s place, Sheila looks at the checklist papers and says, “I don’t like this kind of stuff.”

  1. Ashley better listen to Michael. Her momma ain’t leaving her boyfriend. And she doesn’t want to better herself either. She’s going to go broke and lose Michael trying to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. As for Robyn, her real issue is she can’t stand to hear the truth about Juan. Sadly Ashley has been the only one to call it for what it is. That’s why she doesn’t like Ashley.

  2. Ashley seems to be more loyal to her mom than her mom has been to her. She keeps picking boyfriends over Ashley. She really is a sad case.

  3. Candiace’s man has me so curious. If Candiace’s mom pays a lot of her bills and even invested in her business and partly owns Candiace’s house, what does her fiance actually do? When you compare him to the other men/husbands, he doesn’t match up at all. Plus, he acted really immaturely at that party.

  4. Ashley is fighting a losing battle. Some people get wiser as they age and some don’t. Her mom just doesn’t get it and refuses to.

  5. Ashley’s mom is a mess. You have to wonder if Ashley giving her money is the only reason they have a “relationship” now. She just seems like a major user. That’s why she doesn’t mind her boyfriend using her.

  6. Ashley is actually enabling her mother’s poor choices by constantly giving her money when she keeps making bad decisions.

  7. I can’t tell someone how they should handle a miscarriage but Monique’s handling of it is just off to me.
