Eve Has Some Words for Kanye West & Tells Fans to Listen to J. Cole

After Kanye said that, “Slavery seemed like a choice,” many people fired back on social media.

Many of Kanye’s fans and peers were appalled at his comments. However, Kanye later went on to try to explain himself. In tweets, he said he misspoke. He claims he knows that African slaves were kidnapped from Africa, but since “the numbers were on our side,” the African slaves in America were “mental slaves.”

While this explanation may have been enough for some fans and peers, it wasn’t enough for Eve. On her talk show “The Talk,” she said she’s done with Kanye and encouraged fans to listen to J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar instead.

During the segment, Eve said the following:

“Every time I watch these clips, I get emotional….it is so disrespectful.

I can’t understand how a black man that was born on the south side of Chicago can have these ideas…I cannot understand this.

You want to be a free-thinker, you want to be thought-provoking, you cannot have these ideas without facts to back them up. Slavery is a fact. Slavery is part of our history…we are still feeling the effects of slavery within our community, within our culture.

It hurts me…At the end of the day, we all got lucky and got plucked out of our hoods and live these amazing lives, but you cannot be so far in your bubble to think you are not a part of what this history is…This is a man that I actually used to listen to, this is a person that we used to look to as an artist.

Pick up some Nas, pick up Damian Marley, pick up some J. Cole, pick up some Kendrick Lamar. Listen to these artists. I am done with Kanye.”

  1. I really don’t care about what Kanye says and does. He’s a black man who wishes he was a white man. He’s not of my concern.

  2. Girl Nas is ignorant too. He was out here ready to give the fade to anyone who had a problem with Gwyneth Paltrow using the N word, plus he’s abusive.

  3. I think the Kanye situation just shows that too many of us place too much importance on rappers. They are not role models. And not everyone who seems deep can be labeled as intelligent.

  4. Kanye is sitting back and loving all of this. All he ever wants is to keep people talking. He’s fits right in with the Kardashians. I knew he would pull something after Kendrick, Bey and Cole were all in the headlines simultaneously.

  5. People are doing way too much. Kanye doesn’t even write his own lyrics. How can people feel betrayed by a man who has multiple writers? This is the real him. Get over it.
