RHOP Recap: Candiace Clashes with Gizelle & Charrisse + Monique Pulls the Strings

Karen is ready to make some new business moves.

Karen is feeling kind of alone since Raven went back to school and Ray isn’t really talking about his tax debt.

He comes downstairs to chat with her.

She says that she wants to come up with her own perfume through her business, Icon Enterprises. In fact, she’s already been researching different packaging options. But she understands she should take her time and do things right.

Ray says she needs to double whatever amount of money she thinks she needs to get started.

“I’ma need a little help.” – Karen

He says he can help her but she needs to be prepared to spend most of her own money.

Charrisse asks Candiace a shady question.

Charrisse, Monique and Ashley meet up at a recovery lab.

Monique continues to complain about feeling overwhelmed, especially since she can’t find a new nanny.

“Seriously, I’m so tired.” – Monique

Candiace meets them minutes later.

After they wrap up their recovery session, Candiace asks everyone if they enjoyed bubble soccer. They admit they had a good time.

She also says that she didn’t mind the interrogation from Gizelle. Then Monique jumps in the conversation and says that Gizelle was being shady when she asked Candiace what else her mother pays for.

Charrisse reminds everyone that it was Candiace herself who told everyone that her mother does pay for everything. So she doesn’t think Gizelle was in the wrong.

In a green screen interview, Candiace says that her mother only wants to make sure she has the very best and she wants to give Candiace and her sister that. Candiace is not ashamed of that.

Back to the conversation, Candiace continues to defend Gizelle.

“I mean that’s a legitimate question.” – Charrisse

“I don’t think so.” – Candiace

“That was shade!” – Monique

Then Charrisse herself asks Candiace a shady question. After asking Candiace how old she is (30) and asking if Chris can hold a candle to the money her mother has (Candiace says Chris “has a little something”), she then questions who bought the ring.

“Did your mom buy that ring?” – Charrisse

Ashley, Monique and Charrisse laugh.

Candiace says that Chris paid for the ring. She then asks Charrisse if she’s married and she says she’s in the middle of a divorce.

“Oh, I’m sorry. That’s not fun.” – Candiace

The conversation then changes to Ashley’s status with Michael. She says she and Michael have some major issues that they need to resolve.

Ashley announces that she planned a girl’s trip to the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. This excites everyone.

Gizelle is having some concerns about Sherman.

As Gizelle packs for the trip to Nemacolin, she gets a phone call from Sherman. She says he’s been distant lately and she doesn’t understand what the issue is. But she doesn’t bring this up to him during their call.

Michael and Ashley still can’t agree on Sheila.

Ashley and Michael go biking.

They are trying to make sure they make time to have fun with one another.

She brings up the upcoming retreat with the girls. Karen is brought up and Ashley tells Michael that Karen sided with him when it comes to Sheila.

But Ashley is convinced that Sheila is working on herself and they will only have to keep helping her for two more months.

Michael brings up that Sheila could just be pulling Ashley’s leg. He’s not convinced that Sheila is doing anything to really help herself.

“You gotta cut her off.” – Michael

He says she must cut off Sheila financially and Ashley says she feels that’s not fair.

As of now, she feels like she’s been put in the middle.

In a green screen interview, Ashley places all the blame on Sheila’s boyfriend. He refuses to get a job, and he’s content with living on Michael’s money.

When Michael says that Ashley forgives her mother faster than she forgives him, this upsets her.

“I need you to give her a consequence.” – Michael

“What’s my consequence?” – Ashley

After Michael makes it clear that he can’t stay in the marriage if things don’t change, Ashley says she feels abandoned.

They decide to end the conversation for now and bike back home.

Things are going great for Robyn and Juan.

He surprises her with some new sneakers for her girl’s trip. She kisses him and says thanks.

They also discuss the house they are flipping, and she says they can earn about $80,000 to $100,000 from it. Robyn’s mom has been her partner in real estate investing since Juan is working full-time as a coach.

“I’m proud of you.” – Juan

Monique hypes Candiace up some more, and gets into a car accident.

Candiace, Ashley and Monique meet up to shop for the trip.

Ashley thinks Candiace should try to get to know Gizelle. Candiace isn’t interested.

When Ashley asks if there’s tension with her and Charrisse, Candiace says she feels it was shady for Charrisse to ask if her mom bought her engagement ring.

Monique then says she would have had to get in Charrisse’s face if she asked her that.

In a green screen interview, Monique says Charrisse is like her sister but she’s not sure she likes the way Charrisse has been coming at Candiace. She tells Candiace to throw shade right back when the other ladies come for her.

“When you catch the shade, throw it right back.” – Monique

Later that day, Monique gets into a car accident after she fell asleep at the wheel. She ended up crashing into a small tree.

She’s okay but has some neck and back pain.

Her husband Chris says he thinks she should cancel the trip and recover at home. But she says she’s okay and decides to go on the trip regardless.

Candiace says the accident is a wake up call for her. She’s working too hard and not getting enough sleep.

Charrisse and Candiace clash.

The ladies begin to get on the bus and chat as they wait for Robyn.

Monique tells them about her car accident.  She says she and Ashley had drinks before she went home.

“I wasn’t drunk though.” – Monique

In a green screen interview, Ashley throws some shade.

“Girl, we know you had more than two drinks.” – Ashley

Robyn finally arrives and they all toast.

Ashley says they are going to ziplining and fishing.

Gizelle questions the fact that Ashley lived in a trailer park with her grandparents over the summer. Ashley notices the shade.

Monique then brings up Charrisse’s shady question to Candiace.

“It was a shady b*tch moment.” – Candiace

Charrisse questions being called a b*tch.

“So you’re referring to me as a b*tch?” – Charrisse

“I’m referring to the moment as a shady b*tch moment.” – Candiace

Charrisse then says that Candiace needs to lower her voice but Candiace doesn’t back down.

In a green screen interview, Ashley says she’s pretty sure Monique just wanted to sic Candiace on Gizelle, not Charrisse.

At this point, Charrisse and Candiace continue to argue.

“I don’t play with kids, honey.” – Charrisse

“Are you calling me a child? I don’t play with old women.” – Candiace

In a green screen interview, Candiace says that she has to deal with her mother treating her like a child but she won’t tolerate it from Charrisse.

“Little girl, don’t talk to me.” – Charrisse

“Geriatric granny, don’t talk to me either.” – Candiace

“Y’all better give her a heads up.” – Charrisse

“We don’t what Cha Cha to come out.” – Monique

“And you don’t want Candiace to come out either. I don’t have no alter ego. I’m just gonna come out.” – Candiace

Ashley then changes the subject, sensing that this could get out of hand.

Everyone notices that Monique is already drunk. She’s already demolishes most of the wine bottle herself.

Gizelle notices that Monique is drinking a lot for someone who just had a car accident. She addresses this in a green screen interview.

“I personally love drunk Monique, but it is a little concerning because why are you drinking the whole bottle of wine by yourself? The girl just wrecked her car. She just really needs to take a red wine timeout.” – Gizelle

They finally get to the resort and waste no time getting ready to head back out. Monique is still noticeably drunk.

Karen, Gizelle, and Charrisse are in one car. Gizelle says Candiace needs to apologize.

In the other car is Robyn, Candiace, Ashley and Monique. Candiace says she likes Charrisse but it’s not cool that she referred to her as a little girl. Monique stirs the pot yet again.

“Before Charrisse referred to you as a little girl, Gizelle did.” – Monique

“Yeah, Gizelle gonna get it too.” – Charrisse

Robyn side eyes this exchange.

Ashley exits the car to pee in the woods.

It doesn’t take long for things to go left, again.

The ladies come together to have some dinner.

Gizelle says that she feels Candiace should apologize to Charrisse.

In a green screen interview, Gizelle says that Charrisse is central to the group.

“Charrisse is someone who is central to this whole group. We’re all friends because of Charrisse. If you want to pick on anybody Candiace, it surely shouldn’t be Charrisse.” – Gizelle

Candiace says that she feels Charrisse owes her an apology because the question about her engagement ring was shady and rude.

“First of all Candiace, I said that to you, and it was in light, and it was semi fun. It wasn’t like I was being very shady. But when I said it, you should have addressed it when I said it if it was a problem for you.” – Charrisse

“Why?” – Monique

“You didn’t have an issue when I said it, did you?” – Charrisse

But Ashley says that Charrisse does throw shade and she brings up in a green screen interview that Charrisse came for Michael’s age in the past.

A flashback confirms this in which Charrisse tells Ashley she likes having babies “by an old man.”  Ashley feels that Candiace doesn’t have to apologize because if Candiace doesn’t check Charrisse, it will only get worse.

At the table, Ashley says Charrisse was being shady with the question and she should own that.

Candiace then says that her issue is really with Gizelle and Charrisse. She feels they have been judging her about what her mother has done for her financially.

Both Charrisse and Gizelle say they really don’t care about what Candiace’s mother does for her. Candiace then calls Gizelle and Charrisse “kept a*s b*tches” so it’s hypocritical for them to judge her.

Candiace says that her mother paying for her is no different from Charrisse and Gzelle living off their exes.

In a green screen interview, Candiace elaborates on this.

“Charrisse and Gizelle are both hypocrites. Yes, my mother helps me with things. But at least I don’t have to depend on no man who will leave me with nothing to show for it.” – Candiace

Charrisse gets annoyed and asks Candiace where she came from.

“I came from Jesus.” – Candiace

Robyn says that Candiace is the one who revealed that her mother pays for a lot of things so she can’t expect it not to be discussed.

“And that’s fine to talk about it but why does it have to be shade?” – Candiace

Karen then reminds Candiace that this is why she warned her not to give too many details about her personal life.

“But the fact that I shared it with you does not mean you take advantage of that and then throw shade at me for sharing.” – Candiace

Robyn says that she was only asked follow up questions so Candiace can’t be mad.

Karen says Candiace needs to learn how to have thick skin if she’s going to be in this group.

Gizelle says she feels Candiace hit below the belt by calling Charrisse out her name.

Robyn says it was wrong for Candiace to call Charrisse “geatric granny.” Candiace says Charrisse should have never called her a little girl.

In a green screen interview, Gizelle says Charrisse’s question was fair since Candiace confirmed that her mother pays for just about everything.

“Don’t talk about Charrisse like that. You need to apologize.” – Gizelle

“But y’all do that sh*t all the damn time!” – Ashley

She adds more in her green screen interview.

“Mind your business, Gizelle. Charrisse knew what she was saying and she knew what she was doing. She needs to get laid and then she’ll be happier.” – Ashley

Candiace refuses to apologize and starts arguing with Gizelle.

“Girl, shut the f*ck up!” – Gizelle

“You and your wig can shut the f*ck up.” – Candiace

“You’re real dumb.” – Gizelle

“You’re dumb…you and your little bejeweled army jacket are dumb.” – Candiace

“I look very good, thank you very much.” – Gizelle

“I’m sure you think so.” – Candiace

“I look extremely good.” – Gizelle

Ashley then reminds everyone that they have to be mindful that their trip will last for two days. So they are going to have to try to get along.

This is met with silence.

  1. This episode showed me a few things.

    1. Monique is a messy alcoholic who is using Candiace to take down Gizelle because she can’t do it herself.
    2. Monique is pressed by Gizelle.
    3. Candiace brought all of this on herself because she talks too much. You don’t give people drag material on your first season.
    4. I think I can see why Charrisse and Monique fell out. Before the episode ended, Charrisse pretty much figured out that Candiace wasn’t mad until Monique gassed her up.

  2. From the looks of Candace’s twitter account, I’d say she’s a better fit for Love & Hip Hop than RHOP.

  3. I was trying to give Candiace a chance but I’m seeing too many red flags. Candiace literally had no problems with what Charrisse and Gizelle asked her until Monique told her it was an issue. Before that, she was a good sport and didn’t seem to be bothered by the shade. It’s only an issue now because Monique placed a battery in her back. I can’t respect that.

Another thing I noticed is Candiace seems to think being engaged to a white man in itself is an achievement. She brings the fact that he’s white up a lot, but doesn’t see an issue with the fact that her mother is having to pay for bills because her man can’t. Does she give him a pass for being a “downgrade” just because he’s white. It seems that way.

Then the comment she made about it being better for her mother to take care of her versus depending on a man to take care of her was just downright embarrassing. Technically, there’s nothing wrong with a husband taking care of his kids and wife/ex wife financially. Even the courts agree with this, hence child and spousal support being a thing. But there is something weird about an adult and able bodied grown woman still needing mommy’s wallet when she’s getting ready to get married. How are you on a housewives show and shading women for being take care of by their husbands? She’s just weird.

    1. Your second paragraph about Candice is exactly what I’ve thought about her when I saw her. She makes it seem like her guy is a prize cause of his complexion. Pretty sure if he were her hue w 3 kids she wouldn’t be bragging nor would she try to move his kids in.

  4. Candiace is a joke. She knows good and well that she set herself up to be shaded when she kept telling anyone who would listen that her mom pays for everything and her man is actually a downgrade. What did she expect to happen? She’s out of her league.

  5. I was wondering if anyone noticed that Monique is the one who keeps stirring the pot. She’s always like, “But Gizelle!” It never fails. She’s obsessed and swears that Gizelle is pressed by her but it’s the other way around.

  6. I mean it’s obvious Charrisse was being shady. But Candiace literally did not care when it happened. Everyone laughed and no one took it seriously. So why is it such an issue for Candiace now? Because Monique told her it was shade? I agree with Charrisse. If it was an issue, she should have said something when it happened. Don’t get mad now because someone told you that you should be mad. And Monique needs to sit down somewhere. She’s talking big and bad about what she would have done if it was said to her, but she’s not about that life either. That’s why she had to have her brother make that fan page and talk junk for her.

  7. I’m really not feeling Monique this season. And yes, she has a drinking problem. She swears she’s living the life, okay then why does she need to drink so much? That’s not how happy people roll.

  8. I respect Candiace isn’t afraid of Gizelle and Charrisse but I think it’s corny that she didn’t get mad until Monique stirred the pot. It makes her look weak and easily manipulated.

  9. So you say your mom pays for just about everything, but you don’t want anyone to ask if she also paid for your engagement ring. Okay girl.

  10. Candace needs to sit down and think some things over. Her life is messy. When is she going to remove herself from her mother’s boob? She’s 30 years old.

  11. This season is finally heating up I’m so happy… Monique is a drunk and it’s very obvious she is obsessed with Gizelle I’m not sure what it is but she really on her hard and it’s so funny because Gizelle pats her no mind… it’s also strange how Monique never comes for her to herself every nasty comment is in her confessional or behind her back to the other ladies… I’m not feeling her this season at all she’s very bitter and hateful. Candice is Monique’s puppet and she fall for the trap that Monique set in motion to start stuff between Gizelle Charisse and Candice. Candice talks to much and honestly set herself up so she can’t be mad when people throw funny shade towards her if she wants to last for season 4 she gotta not take stuff so personal especially when you tell all your business.

  12. Candiace isn’t the smartest cookie. When I watch her onscreen, I realize that Porsha really isn’t as dumb as people say she is. Porsha came on the show married to a man with money, but was spared throughout everything because she was lovable (she has a lot of stans) and she had NeNe in her corner. She really played chess and that showed even more at the reunion this year. She neutralized every threat she had this season, and came out on top securing another season while Kim became the new target. Candiace isn’t playing her cards right. She’s taking direction from Monique and that’s dumb because this is only Monique’s second season. Hell even Ashley played her cards better when she was new.

  13. I believe Candice mother paid for the ring like she pays for everything else. She is probably a silent investor in his restaurant as well unless he only works there and not own it. She probably thought a white man on her arm with a big ring shows she made it. What I don’t understand is what kind of a man would move in with a woman whose house is co owned by her mother, paid for by mom, and mom comes and goes as she pleases. a real man who owns his own business would not do that. She never seems to highlight his success only his failure like not having money. She seems like a nice girl but way too immature to be on this show, she has nothing to offer. Moving on, did anyone see when Giselle told her boyfriend she loved him and he just basically rushed her off the phone without saying it back? I think its trouble in Paradise…does she have the Halle Berry syndrome? We will see.

  14. Monique definitely drinks too much. If you are out for dinner with friends, why do you need to to have four drinks? And why did she need to drink all the wine up herself on the bus en route to the resort? She clearly uses alcohol to deal with stress. And that’s so unhealthy.

  15. Candace declasses RHOP. She can’t even handle light weight shade without acting like a fool. She needs to go.

  16. Candiace is hard to like. I know the season isn’t over but so far I’m just not feeling her.
