Rickey Smiley’s teenage son received a lot of backlash after he told a young lady that he wasn’t attracted to black women.

He even said he views them as friends.

After the backlash rolled in, Rickey claimed that his son only made the comments because he attends a predominately white school. Smiley even stated that his son was just going through a phase and his feelings would change.

During a recent interview with VLAD TV, he appears to defend his son even more.

Smiley stated that his son doesn’t like black women because it’s mainly black students he sees fighting at his white school. But it was just a “joke.”

Then he got visibly irritated and said that he watched people drag Terrence J. online because his girlfriend is light-skinned.

When Vlad tried to explain colorism and used a dark-skinned rapper who refuses to date a dark-skinned woman as an example (the rapper stated he doesn’t want to have a dark-skinned child), Rickey said that the young man has a right to be with who he wants to.

The comedian then discussed his own dating life. He said he’s into boating, so he needs someone who isn’t afraid to get her hair wet and swim with the sharks. But she can be any color.

His comments have caused quite the debate on social media. Was he out of line?
