In a deleted scene from the season 6 finale of “Braxton Family Values,” Iyanla Vanzant sat down with Michael Braxton, Sr. to get some understanding of the family’s dynamic.
What she learned is that Michael had just had some realizations of his own.
According to him, one of the biggest hurdles he and Evelyn had was marrying at such a young age. The couple tied the knot as teenagers.
He also feels like having to submit to Evelyn all the time made him miserable. He would often find any excuse to not come straight home after work.
Michael revealed that the kids knew a divorce was imminent years ago. And his current wife Wanda did not break up the marriage. He feels the marriage was broken before her.
Iyanla feels like Michael’s inability to challenge Evelyn back then is why the kids won’t call her out today. She also feels like Evelyn is still bitter about the divorce and this has passed on to all the kids.

Both agree that Evelyn’s attitude is the main issue in the family. This is a huge problem since no one is willing to confront her.
