Iyanla learns Kizzy lost custody of her children.

Part 2 begins with Iyanla sitting down with Kizzy. Iyanla created a poster with words that describe her mom LaRonda. In this exercise, Iyanla tells Kizzy she is a spitting image of LaRonda.

She also tells Kizzy she’s using her anger towards her mom as a crutch.

During their conversation, Kizzy reveals that she doesn’t have custody of her 2 children. As a result, she holds a resentment towards LaRonda for not teaching her how to be a mom.

Kizzy’s children are with their grandparents, just as she was raised by her grandmother.

“You’re gonna sit in LaRonda’s chair one day with your people.” – Iyanla

Overall, she wants Kizzy to realize she’s walking in LaRonda’s footsteps and LaRonda can never be the mom she wants her to be.

Next, Iyanla meets with LaRonda and asks her if she likes Kizzy as a person. LaRonda says she doesn’t like Kizzy as a person.

LaRonda seems surprised when Iyanla says Kizzy doesn’t have custody of her children. Interestingly enough, LaRonda says she feels like her mom didn’t like her. In fact, she feared her mom. If you recall, LaRonda’s biological dad didn’t live with her mom. This led to abuse from her mom because she looked like her father.

In fact, LaRonda recalled a time where her mom tied her to a chair and beat her with an extension cord.

Overall, Iyanla wants LaRonda to use this experience to realize that she and Kizzy are just alike and they both are feeling pain stemming from LaRonda’s mom.

Iyanla learns tension is still high between Marvin and Melvin.

The next morning, Iyanla meets with all of LaRonda’s children and has LaRonda with them. Before they begin, she ties a cape around Markus’ neck, symbolizing he needs to be his own super hero.

She wants the children to finally accept LaRonda for who she is and to let go of what happened in their past. But she also wants LaRonda to sit in the pain she caused and go in depth as to why she wasn’t there. Overall, Iyanla wants all of them to realize that LaRonda experienced something similar to what they did.

Marvin reads aloud his homework regarding being able to stand in your truth, which stirs Melvin.

“What [Marvin] said wasn’t about you.” – Iyanla

So Iyanla decides to probe into where this tension comes from. Melvin feels Marvin isn’t being genuine and says he’s talking about him. Iyanla notices that Marvin and Melvin have something between that they need to work through.

She uses this moment to have them to play a game. The game allows them to put blame on each other for various things, in the vein of pin the tail on the donkey. They all agree Marvin crates the most drama. They also say Markus is the meanest. Lastly, they also say their mom hurt them the most and disappointed them the most. Iyanla played the game but only had LaRonda’s name to demonstrate to show that all of it came from her.

This exercise was to demonstrate that they are all part of the same pattern of family destruction.

“Her redemption is your redemption. Her healing is your healing.” – Iyanla

Michael’s brothers learn of his serious mental condition.

Next, Iyanla wants to dig into Michael Jr’s pattern of destruction that includes his social media persona. Iyanla has his brothers there to listen in on the conversation. Michael reveals that he was on antidepressants as a child for suicidal tendencies.

“Sometimes, I feel like I don’t belong here.” – Michael Jr.

Iyanla’s surprised to hear Michael Jr is homeless again in the same city LaRonda leaves in. LaRonda tells Iyanla she wants Michael Jr. to live with her.

Iyanla also reveals to Michael Jr that he has a personality mood disorder that should require medication. LaRonda says she tried to tell him his errors but Michael doesn’t respect her word. That’s because he still holds resentment of what happened in the past.

Afterwards, Iyanla heads to talk to Michael’s brothers and they share their thoughts about what they heard. They revealed they offered him a place to stay but he won’t follow their rules which includes stopping the videos.
At one point, Iyanla asks them point blank if they’re embarrassed by Michael. They nervously say no. Overall, Iyanla feels Michael needs medication.

“There’s nothing wrong with meds.” – Iyanla

Marvin and Melvin try to hash things out.

Next, Iyanla brings Marvin and Melvin together to discuss their breakdown. During their talk, Marvin tells a story of how he would tell Melvin not to tell others they were siblings. Melvin was already out as a teen but Marvin didn’t tell anyone yet.

“I felt I was going to be exposed due to my truth.” – Marvin

His abuse jaded how Marvin feels about his homos*xuality. But Melvin doesn’t understand how Marvin could understand him and looks at him disgustingly.

“It’s nothing personal. You represent the part of him that he hates.” – Iyanla

At this point, things get tense.

“I’m not going to feel sorry for him.” – Melvin

Iyanla does her best to get Melvin to understand Marvin’s perspective especially since Melvin says he wasn’t violated as a child.

Marvin apologizes to Melvin and begins to cry. When Iyanla asks Melvin to apologize, he remains mum. They go off to have a private conversation but things get even more tense.

As a result, Melvin wants to leave.

Iyanla pulls him aside to talk. He feels like Iyanla is dismissing Marvin’s behavior. His frustration leads him to cry out that he doesn’t want to disrespect her. He walks out the door with Iyanla tailing.

The episode ends with Iyanla getting an ear full from Melvin.
