Iyanla continues to be blunt with Rita.

The season finale begins with Iyanla telling Rita she’s an adult bully. Rita feels sad about it because she says she didn’t have that intention to come off that way.

LaShonda agrees with Iyanla but Rita doesn’t really agree with this assessment. But interestingly enough, Iyanla reads parts of Rita’s letter where she suspected LaShonda was an addict.

Rita never talked to LaShonda about this but LaShonda was kind enough to open up about this. She also hears from Rita that she feels Remeesha isn’t woman enough for Chris.

Rita tries to walk back her comments but Iyanla doesn’t let her do it. Iyanla harps on the fact that Rita doesn’t look at things from the perspective of a black woman. However, Iyanla thinks this is more-so classism and elitism Rita projects on Remeesha instead of racism.

LaShonda and Meesha sit with Iyanla to tie up loose ends.

Next, Iyanla sits with LaShonda and Remeesha to talk about what Meesha shared with Rita about her mom. Meesha confirmed she shared her mom’s drug addiction with Rita. During this conversation, it’s revealed Meesha dealt with abuse from a family member.

Iyanla gets Meesha to realize she has Rita-like tendencies due to her past and it’s okay to feel angry towards LaShonda. Meesha expresses to LaShonda how she felt like her mom didn’t care when her mom’s boyfriend would be abusive.

Iyanla notes how Christian lights up when he sees Meesha, calling him a gentle spirit. She warns Meesha to be careful before she abuses him, avoiding calling him passive.

Rita seems angered by Christian’s story.

After this calm conversation, Iyanla sits with Christian and Rita. Christian opens up to Rita as to how he didn’t feel protected as a child.

He revealed to Rita how a man assaulted him and Rita struggled to handle the information. Christian says he didn’t talk to Rita about it because he was afraid Rita wouldn’t love him anymore.

Iyanla does her best to get Rita to listen without reacting or defending herself and instead focus on Christian’s feelings.

The conversation gets intense between Iyanla and Rita. Iyanla then dismisses Christian to get water.

When one on one, Rita reveals that Christian just told a different story. She angrily reveals she took her son to a psychiatrist when she learns about this years ago. But, Iyanla focuses on Rita seemingly not acknowledging her pain.

Rita feels Iyanla is piling onto her.

Iyanla cautions Meesha about her behavior towards Christian.

After this conversation, Iyanla brings Christian and Remeesha together. Iyanla believes Christian isn’t emotionally safe around Rita. She then gives Meesha a warning about doing the same thing to Christian

“All men marry their mothers.” – Iyanla

She challenges the couple to seek counseling to help strengthen their bond.

Lastly, Iyanla brings all four together. Iyanla does note she’s been hard on Rita. Christian wishes he received a different reaction from Rita earlier.

LaShonda wants to step up as a grandmother for the grandchildren and be there for Rita more if allowed. Remeesha says she will be okay with Christian not being an alpha male.

Christian wants to work on being more closely knit with his family. Lastly, Rita wants to work on everything that was uncovered.

Christian and Meesha removed Rita from their lives after the show as Rita continued to feel misunderstood.
