Charley finds comfort at a bar.

The episode begins with Charley enjoying a glass of wine at the bar. She’s desperate to avoid all of the drama in her life.

Meanwhile, Nova heads to see her mom’s cousin Martha. Martha’s happy to see her, noting she looks exactly like her cousin. Nova presents Martha a gift of African herbs. Nova’s invited inside for tea and an interesting history lesson into her family.

As this goes on, Aunt Vi cooked up a big, nice dinner for Hollywood. This dinner is to soften the blow of what Aunt Vi’s about to bring up; Jimmy Dale. Specifically, she brings up the rage Hollywood had when he was beating up Jimmy Dale.

Aunt Vi brings up how Jimmy Dale did something similar and it spooked her PTSD. Hollywood’s adamant he would never put his hand on her like that. But Aunt Vi says she has to work on some things herself regarding her past with Jimmy.

It’s granola day for breakfast as Ralph Angel gets Blue from Darla. Blue’s disappointed about not having a play date with Deesha and Joie. When Darla learns this, Darla goes off on Ralph Angel. Ralph Angel didn’t bring it up because Darla asked him not to talk about their romances.

Prosper comes up with a plan to cheer up Charley.

Speaking of romance, Prosper and his friend Genevieve stop by the diner. They’re picking up lunch for Charley’s campaign but Charley’s nowhere to be found. Prosper has a mysterious idea to get Charley back on track. At home, Micah greets Kiki as Charley’s away.

They seemingly decide that prom might be too far away for them to finally become intimate.

At Martha’s, Nova learns she and her mom come from a far line of healers. Nova also learned Martha held a deep-rooted secret for Nova’s mom until her passing.

As things get steamy, Kiki stops everything to question if Micah has been with anyone else. He says no and tells Kiki he’s okay if she doesn’t want to go any further intimately. Suddenly his phone rings. Charley calls Micah from the bar and seemingly appears heavily intoxicated.

Hollywood stops by the farm to check on Ralph Angel. He’s saddened to hear the news about Ralph Angel’s re-entry program being placed on pause. Hollywood gives him wise words and Ralph Angel’s appreciative.

At the diner, Ignacio’s son gives Aunt Vi a gift from his family but Aunt Vi dismisses it. He seems thankful for his second chance.

Nova learns a major secret about her mom.

Martha holds Nova’s hands, and senses Trudy’s been visiting her daughter in Nova’s dreams. Nova confirms this and Martha then hands Nova a book she was using to study her healing. Nova says her mom gave up healing after she got pregnant with her. However, Martha tells her Trudy doesn’t regret walking away from healing and she loves her.

Surprisingly, Nova learned from Martha Ernest’s buried Trudy on the farm.

During Hollywood’s card game, the topic of Hollywood beating up Jimmy Dale comes up. Hollywood seemingly feels ashamed of the incident despite his friends feeling otherwise.

Micah stops by the diner because he can’t find Charley. Prosper has him look up her location and they discover that Charley’s in New Orleans.

Darla surprises her friend during his rehearsal, bringing him and the band treats. However, he wants to talk to Darla about the book. He has a problem with what he read in the book and that set her off. He tells Darla he’s seeing the signs of a relapse. However, Darla scoffs at this.

Darla’s disappointed when he slows things down on their relationship for the sake of his sobriety.

Nova helps Charley get home safely.

Surprisingly, Nova approaches Charley in the New Orleans bar. Nova tries to get Charley to leave but Charley refuses to leave with her. Charley resists but Nova eventually carries her out of the bar.

As Aunt Vi’s closing down, Hollywood stops by the diner, helping Aunt Vi clean up. He tells Aunt Vi about his friends praising him about beating up Jimmy Dale. He feels a lack of depth from his friends and realizes there isn’t a support group in the parish that allows men to open up about sensitive things.

Micah stopped by the farm and gets advice about him and Kiki taking things further intimately. Ralph Angel says it’s important to do right by Kiki. Micah’s nervous about everything and reveals he has serious feelings for Kiki. Later on, Ralph Angela calls Darla telling her Blue tried to call her today. On her end, Darla’s sad and it worsens when Blue talks about Joie.

When Blue hangs up, Darla cries.

Eventually, Nova’s able to get Charley to a safe place and a warm bed. She dresses Charley for bed and tucks her in. Charley asks Nova why she said all the things in the book. Nova says she believed initially she was doing something positive for her family.

She cries as she reveals she was wrong for writing those things. Charley begins to cry out too and Nova spoons her on the bed.

Darla struggles with her sobriety.

The next morning, Charley comes across an article titled, “Charley Bordelon is my Hero,” written by Nova. The article is a raving review of Charley and a sobering admission that the book was wrong. This article brings Charley to tears.

Meanwhile, Ralph Angel calls Darla, leaving a message that he’s worried about her. Ralph Angel then invites her to a gathering at the Mill later that night. Micah then grabs Charley to take her to the mill for a surprise. This surprise is a gathering for Charley and the mill itself. The gathering was Prosper’s grand plan to bring everyone together and circle Charley and the community.

Prosper tells the crowd it’s time to once again make something out of nothing. Meanwhile, Darla’s at home, alone, and crying her painful tears as she stares at a full liquor bottle. Darla slowly picks up the bottle of whiskey, opens the bottle, smelling its aroma.

Darla sobs as she slams the bottle down.
