AJ survives.

Jacob is in Mac’s storage locker going through all of his paperwork, struggling to find the second will. But he finds fishing gear that he decides to take with him as he leaves. Meanwhile, Grace and Sophia are in the hospital lobby to get news on AJ.

AJ’s in stable condition and needed a blood transfusion from the suicide attempt. Due to the suicide attempt, the hospital is forced to hold him for 72 hours for observation. Unfortunately for Grace, it will be up to AJ whether or not she or Sophia will be able to see him once he wakes after the transfusion procedure.

Back at the house, Mae hasn’t eaten in 24 hours and James is worried. He pleads with her about getting married but Mae is against it while AJ is in the hospital. As James pleads to Mae, Grace and Sophia return from the hospital. Grace gives them a key to Mavis’ club and seemingly brushes off Grace. When Grace walks off, Mae unleashes on Charity for everything that happened.

When they are by themselves, Mae gave James a new date to get married; Flag Day. That makes James giddy and he walks off happily.

Jacob and Kerissa refuse to tell Zora about their divorce.

Kerissa and Zora are talking upstairs when Jacob returns with the fishing tackle box. Zora hears Jacob tell Kerissa about their divorce mediation, calling it a meeting. Zora asks whether or not they’re back in therapy but both ignore her.

Darius calls Grace as she grieves with important info, asking for help. He’s been calling Cal Weaver, who’s the pastor of a Harmony and Hope sister church. He invites Grace to drive to his house so he can interview him about Bob. They arrive at Cal’s and Cal tells them that Bob said not to talk. He then closes his door in their faces. Grace is shocked Bob ordered all pastors not to speak to the church.

Back at the mansion, Sophia calls Dante because she wants to see him. However, she was only able to get his voicemail.

Later on, James and Mae make it to Mavis’ club to determine its prospects as their new church site. Inside, Mae revealed her nervousness about starting over in the club as it’s currently configured. In fact, she feels it may be best to tear it down. James disagrees as the bar is full of Memphis blues history. But Mae gives James an ultimatum.

When Charity makes it to Calvary, she learns Judee took her office. As a result, Charity storms into Phil’s office to give him a piece of her mind. Afterward, she heads into the bathroom to cry. Emotions are also high for Grace when she returns to the hospital and sees Noah.

Jacob and Kerissa argue.

Meanwhile, Jacob and Kerissa have their divorce mediation and Kerissa’s playing hardball, demanding primary custody of their son. Although he wants joint custody, he reluctantly agrees and signs their divorce paperwork. Noah praises how Grace is handling everything and lets her know that his wife wants a divorce.

When the doctor comes out, they tell them AJ doesn’t want to see either of them. This breaks Grace’s heart.

Meanwhile, Sophia stops by to see Zora as she’s picking through her and Nicki’s clothes. Zora’s not cool with Sophia yet and she keeps her responses short with Sophia when she asks for a playlist. During their talk, Zora learns Sophia gave her virginity to Dante.

Back at the church, Judee walks in on a meeting between Charity and Phil. They need Charity to meet with a contractor to oversee a ramp that needs to be built so they can have service in the alternate location this Sunday. Things get tense when Charity tells Judee Phil still loves her. Judee tells Charity that she needs to move on.

Back at home, James calls Mavis but struggles to get in contact with her. He needs to tell her about the plans for her club but can’t reach her.

Leaving the hospital, Noah wants to talk to Grace about being a family with AJ. This causes an argument between Grace and Noah.

Grace and Mae go off on Charity.

When she gets home, Grace tells Mae that AJ doesn’t want to see her. All Mae can do is console her and give her hope. Charity pulls up and Mae’s mood changes and Grace walks off. Mae goes off on her again, letting her know her problems with Judee and Phil are small. Meanwhile, Zora goes off on Jacob and Kerissa for not telling her they’re getting a divorce. Afterward, Jacob and Kerissa begin to argue and Jacob threatens to tell Zora why they’re getting a divorce. Kerissa responds by threatening to take the will to the police, having James arrested.

On a softer note, Sophia stops by Grace’s room. She wants Grace to give AJ an iPod Shuffle with a playlist that Zora made. Charity stops in to interrupt their soft moment to give Grace a note. The note is a poem that she wrote when she lost Eden, her daughter.

This brings out anger from Grace as Grace feels Charity’s making her son’s suicide attempt all about her. All Charity could say is “you and mom deserve each other.”

James is giddy as he’s ready to move on the construction plans. Mae begins to worry as James forgot that he and Mae set a date for their wedding for Flag Day.

Jacob visits Tasha, learning Basie’s apparently dead.

While at Dante’s, Nicki answers and hangs up on Sophia when she calls. Meanwhile, Mae received her sign and broke her fast. And Jacob’s with his son fishing. He tells his son about the divorce, promising to explain it in detail later. Once he opens the tackle box, he makes a discovery; a will for Loretta Davis. The name Darryl James is on the will.

Lastly, Zora storms in Sophia’s room as she found out from Nicki about the private photos that Sophia sent to Dante. Grace gets a call from Cal, receiving a clue that a company named Edenvail Lending is involved with Bob. Cal also asks that Darius never contacts him again. Meanwhile, James is listening to blues records and Grace sits in the hospital lobby, hoping to see AJ.

Jacob stops by Tasha’s to find Basie. But he learns Basie’s dead.
