Charmaine received backlash for TikTok video.

Charmaine of “Black Ink Crew Chicago” had no idea that she would get so much backlash after participating in a TikTok challenge. In the challenge, parents record themselves splashing water on their unsuspecting children with a water bottle. While the challenge was intended to be funny and lighthearted, Charmaine’s attempt at it didn’t sit well with a lot of people.

After she recorded Baby Nola being splashed by the water, the backlash was swift.

People took to the comments to slam Charmaine and tell her that she could have hurt the baby. Charmaine disagreed with this and figured people were just being too sensitive. However, she eventually apologized in a letter to the public once it became clear that many were taking her actions seriously.

Charmaine’s dad is furious.

Although the video has since been deleted and Charmaine has appeared to move on from the controversy, she gave a recent update during an interview with Bossip via Instagram Live.

She said, “Oh my God, I got lots of hate mail, emails, and everything.”

Charmaine also revealed that her dad is mad about it. She said, “Yeah, it’s just drama. Since it happened, it’s just all the internet stuff and then my dad and stuff finding out about it. And we haven’t talked since. Dad is pissed. So I’m trying to figure out like how do I call my dad and what do I say?”

She added, “I don’t know if he blocked me. I tried to text him the next day. It came up green, so…”
