Darius is off to Las Vegas.

Grace is sitting on the lake deck when an SUV drives onto the property. It stops at the lake and the driver gets out. It’s Darius and he’s on his way to the airport. He’s heading to Las Vegas to further investigate the companies Bob Whitmore is involved in.

Meanwhile, Grace still hasn’t gotten a status update about AJ. He’s still in the hospital and refuses to see her. She also receives news that Darius lost his job at the newspaper and his H&H story was killed. However, that’s not going to prevent Darius from digging. A short time later, he heads off to the airport.

Kerissa wakes up Jacob as she’s full of anger. She’s off to work at the school and a meeting with Dante. She needs Jacob to pick up their son Winkie. Meanwhile, James and Mae are on the computer searching for church names when Mae tells James to get a physical. He scoffs at this but Mae’s adamant. Charity’s forced to sit with them and is asked to sing at the church. Charity refuses even after James offers to make her Associate Pastor.

Mae goes off on her yet again but Charity stands her ground. Charity tells them that she has a plan to get their church back but Mae doesn’t believe her. While this goes on Mae has Karine to make a doctor’s appointment with him.

Jacob gets help from Tasha.

Later on, Jacob goes to see Tasha for help regarding a meeting with Tara. Jacob asks Tasha if Tara believes James killed her father and Tasha says she doesn’t know. Meanwhile, Sophia’s throwing Nikki’s clothes in the trash when Nikki comes in. Nikki and Sophia begin arguing and Nikki brings up the racy photos she sent Dante. A fight ensues when Nikki makes a remark about Sophia not able to have babies.

Zora breaks up the scuffle and kicks Nikki out. When she leaves, Zora tells Sophia she had nothing to do with it and Sophia walks away in disgust.

James and Mae are happy to see Noah as Grace invites I’m into the home. They are rather vocal with Noah and invite him and Grace for a drink. Grace reluctantly joins in. At Calvary, Phil walks into Charity’s office to ask her to give the welcome for Sunday’s church. Charity demands to preach the following Sunday and Phil doesn’t make that promise. He also asks Charity to help Judee with music.

Sophia gets into a scuffle.

Back at home, Zora’s tending to Sophia’s wounds and Sophia’s frustrated the photos she sent Dante ended up all over the internet. So, Sophia’s looking for revenge and Zora advises her not to fight Nikki. Meanwhile, James and Mae get a stern caution that AJ doesn’t want to see them. Mae offers Noah the guest house when Zora leaves and Grace winces at this. Mae lets Grace know that Grace gave AJ away and AJ holds more resentment for her for it. Grace storms off and James follows. He tells Grace that Mae was out of line but she was right to pull Noah in. Grace realizes that she, AJ, and Noah are a family and she’ll need Noah in order to build some sort of bond with AJ.

Later on, Jacob and Tasha arrive at the Memphis Mission to see Tara. They’re greeted at the door and led to the sanctuary by Tara. He’s impressed by the humble surroundings in the mission. He then asks Tara if she believes James killed their father. Although she believes it too, she’s not seeking vengeance.

Tara tells them that their father received a call the night of the fire. Jacob then asks if there’s any relation between her father and Loretta Davis, the person on the Will.

AJ wants to see Sophia.

Meanwhile, AJ calls Sophia from the hospital. As this happens, Karine’s with James and Mae. They’re frustrated with limited options for music ministry. Karine offers to be the music minister and Mae seemingly agrees.

When Jacob and Tasha leaves, Tara gets on the phone to tell someone that she had an interesting visitor. Meanwhile, in Judee’s office, Charity’s taunted by Judee in a way to get her to quit. However, Charity’s not quitting.

At the hospital, Grace and Noah are in the hospital waiting room hoping to see AJ. They’re surprised to see Sophia walk-in and learn AJ wants to talk to her, and her only. Inside the room, AJ’s wrists are bandaged and he’s in a positive mood. Sophia asks why he wants to see him and he tells Sophia that he’s leaving once he gets out. Sophia then asks why he tried to take his own life.

Back at Calvary, Charity runs across Phil who thanks her for helping Judee and asks to talk. However, Charity’s cold to Phil and says no.

Tasha wants to know if the feelings were real.

Meanwhile, Jacob drops Tasha back at home, and Jacob thanks Tasha for the help. Tasha then asks if he really had feelings for her. Jacob said he really likes her and reveals he and Kerissa are divorcing. Tasha then leans for a kiss but he stops her. He wants to take things slowly once the divorce is finalized.

At home, Judee tells Phil that Charity threatened to preach them out of a job. While she’s spunky about the interaction, Phil’s a bit distant from Judee.

When Jacob arrives with their son, he overhears Kerissa on the phone with her lawyer. He seemingly calls her bluff about James seemingly killing Basie and Tara’s father.

AJ reveals a dark secret.

At the hospital, AJ reluctantly tells Sophia why he’s leaving after she demands an answer as to why. Next, Jacob interrupts James’ workout to talk about the will. He asks if he called Tara’s dad the night of his death. He brings up to James that another will shows Darryl James as the rightful owner.

Later on, Mae seemingly has a change of heart with Charity. She shows Charity her old hymnal and then tells her about the struggle with coming up with a name. Charity comes up with the name Eternal Faith Fellowship Church. Mae likes the name and offers an Associate Pastor position once again. Charity says she’ll consider it.

Back at the hospital, Grace is impatient and Noah tries to calm her down. Eventually, Sophia comes down and tells Grace that AJ wants to talk to her. She quickly goes up and quietly enters the room. AJ then tells her that he was raped in prison and as a result has HIV.

The episode ends with Grace crying for her son.
