Katie Rost Responds to Criticism of Her Opinions About Recent Season of RHOP

People are still talking about the recent season of RHOP.

Real Housewives of Potomac” wrapped up one of its most controversial seasons yet thanks to an altercation between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard. The former friends were attempting to work out their issues, but things only got worse once Charrisse Jackson Jordan started to come around the group more. Gizelle Bryant immediately questioned this right along with Ashley Darby. And they suspected that Candiace befriended Charrisse just to get under Monique’s skin.

According to the women on the show, Charrisse had been going around and telling people she heard Monique had an affair with her trainer. And this was supposedly a rumor that was started by Monique’s former best friend.

Instead of Candiace and Monique hashing things out and addressing the issue, they continued to clash. So one fateful day at a winery, words were exchanged, and hands, too. Candiace was so distraught. She even pressed charges. Monique responded with a countersuit. And all charges were dismissed.

This didn’t improve Monique and Candiace’s relationship. And the rest of the ladies on the show were very opinionated about the altercation. At one point, Gizelle said she didn’t even want to be around Monique. She feared for her safety. However, Karen Huger and Ashley continued to support Monique.

Interestingly enough, Katie Rost recently shared some opinions on the recent season. And some fans of the show weren’t feeling what she had to say.

I’ll be glad when people stop using the word ghetto to refer to things that are negative. It’s rooted in anti blackness. Candiace and Monique got in a fight on reality show. It happens. It’s not the typical work environment. You can’t have your nose up in the air about violence happening on a platform that constantly places women in hostile situations. It was inevitable. Katie usually isn’t a judgmental person so I’m surprised by this.

I’d love for Katie to come back to the show. But it’s disappointing to see her say this. It just reeks of classism and anti blackness. The way people are so quick to use this kind of language when black women fight or get into it on reality shows when they usually don’t have this energy for the white reality shows that have the same issues is annoying. It’s time for everyone to move on from this fight.

I’m so tired of this. Black women can’t do anything without people doing the absolute most. Candiace and Monique fight, and then it’s turned into representation of all black women and a disgrace to an entire city. Like just stop it. RHOP is just a show. And people fight and argue on reality shows all the time. We watch to be entertained. Not to have people wag their fingers in our faces and make everything a black woman issue or the constant shade thrown at black people who didn’t grow up rich.

LOL. Katie was on the same show arguing, reading, and dragging people not too long ago. That wasn’t “classy” either. But who cares? People aren’t watching Real Housewives for decorum. Enough of the grandstanding and hypocrisy.

The show IS ratchet and has gotten so low classed I stopped watching. Use of ghetto doesn’t always refer to black folks…I do understand what Katy means.

RHOP has never been classy. That’s what makes this so laughable. Katie needs to remember her little antics on social media aren’t all that classy either. She sounds bitter she’s no longer on the show. People are real quick to call something ghetto to make themselves feel superior though. Wack.

This is what Wendy was referring to. Katie is a biracial woman calling the show ghetto because two brown girls got into a fight. She didn’t feel this way when Robyn was threatening Ashley multiple times. Gee, I wonder why. Smdh.

  8. And What?

    February 22, 2021 at 6:49 pm

People say they are against racism but then they turn around and call a black show “ghetto” in a heartbeat. And I wish Katie would stop playing dumb. She knows that ghetto is a term used mainly to refer to actions of black people. Katie would probably never say this about one of the white housewives shows. I kid you not white women can show many sides of themselves on a reality show and not face the same type of criticisms. And it’s other black women doing the most shaming. Stop this.

Potomac is 4% black. 75% white. The median household income is also around $190,000. The reason why RHOP struggled to catch on the first few seasons is because of the classism they exhibited just like what Katie did in this post. Before there was a Candiace or Monique, these women were calling other black people “the help” and acting like they were the chosen ones in a white city outside of DC. They kept telling themselves they weren’t “those kinds of black people.” They were the “acceptable ones.” RHOA thrived because you never get the sense that any of the women on there think they are better than black people who aren’t born into affluence. These are the same kind of people who get mad when black people who don’t follow the rules and aren’t born with silver spoons in their mouths end up more successful than them. Oh, don’t let a black person from the hood make it. They can’t stand it. They call them “new money” when statistically, most black people with money are new money thanks to white supremacy and slavery. Katie saying this just reminded me why it took so long for me to even like RHOP. Monique and Candiace made the show more down-to-earth and fun. The snobbiness from the original cast wasn’t appealing. There are even articles back then that addressed the anti-blackness. “This isn’t Potomac.” Well, yeah. It’s not white enough to be Potomac, Katie. I’m getting tired of the few black people from Potomac calling people and things ghetto because they think they’re white adjacent enough to do so.

Not sure why ANYONE is surprised by her remarks when the first season she was on Katie did EVERYTHING to distance herself from being referred to as black. Maybe the only time I’ve truly rocked with the “Green-Eyed Bandits’ is when they both told her self-hating a-sss off for trying to make them white even though they both told her they’ve always identified as black women. Katie doesn’t deserve the love she gets from black women….I’ve never understood it!

While I wish the fight didn’t happen, it’s not cool to use ghetto to describe what happened. Black women are judged too harshly as it is.

Katie has had plenty of ghetto moments on and off RHOP. F-ck out of here.

Yuck. The popularization of calling everything ghetto is pathetic.

So she’s supposed to be better than them because she was raised in Potomac? The elitism definitely jumped out.
