Ralph Angel gets bad news about the crop.

It’s late-April and Ralph Angel listens to the radio when an unfortunate report comes across. Ralph Angel’s sugar cane crop is unable to be harvested and will rot due to the pandemic. He’s calling his workers about the inability to harvest and learns one of them contracted Covid-19. Fortunately, they’re okay, recovering at home.

Meanwhile, Nova and Calvin are at home and Nova’s feeling romantic as she straddles Calvin’s lap. They appear to have been enjoying their quarantine together. Overall, Nova’s thankful to be able to have these moments with Calvin.

At Vi’s Pies, Aunt Vi and Hollywood are preparing take-out dinners for their patrons. Aunt Vi wonders if this is a test of everyone’s mettle. Hollywood gets a call from his mom and she is doing good.

Charley is in a Zoom call with hospital executives and they are frustrated. They anticipated that the stay-at-home order would only last just a few weeks. However, they weren’t prepared for an extended order. This is leading to councilmen disputing the order, alluding that Aunt Vi is violating it. Charley scoffs at this, saying Aunt Vi is doing more for the county than anyone else.

Calvin and Nova deliver care packages.

Later on, Nova and Calvin utilized the Tru Papers organization to create care packages for their neighbors in their community. They’re passing out the care packages, taking care to not make contact, and keeping Calvin out of sight. Back at the farm, Darla and Ralph Angel were able to find their groceries and toiletries. Blue’s struggling to keep pace in his classes due to the slow internet speeds in the county.

Ralph Angel then tells Darla about letting go of workers. Despite this, Ralph Angel says he’s calm about it. He’s positive about it as he is very confident that the rotting sugar cane will leave the farm’s soil rich. This could lead to a very bountiful harvest. Darla suggests asking Charley for a loan but Ralph Angel declines. He feels that he’s been here before and can handle it and Darla’s income will help.

Charley meets with Aunt Vi about the rumors of Vi’s Pies being open. She warns Aunt Vi that the health inspector is coming around shutting restaurants down. Aunt Vi reminds Charley that this order was supposed to last just two weeks. Meanwhile, Micah will be home soon and Charley’s happy about it.

Prosper isn’t enthusiastic about Nova’s visit.

Later on, Prosper gets care packages from Nova thanks to Tru Papers and Vi’s Pies. Prosper thanks her but he doesn’t get up. He then insists on Nova leaving as he’s dedicated to maintaining social distancing.

Before work, Darla’s helping Blue with his math work before she logs in for the day. Ralph Angel walks in and reminds Darla about the meeting. Then, he takes Blue for some father/son time. Back at home, Hollywood has a FaceTime call with his mom before her card game. She coughs during the call and Hollywood’s immediately worried. His mom brushes it off, telling Hollywood that it isn’t Covid. She then gets back to telling Hollywood a sauce recipe for the chicken he’s cooking.

Micah’s finally at home, apologizing for the mess he created in the living room. But Charley’s happy he’s home, although they have to be masked in the house until he’s tested. When Charley reminds him not to visit any friend, she learns Keke actually broke up with him. Micah says they ran their course.

Darla is furloughed.

Back on the farm, Darla’s in the garden when Ralph Angel stops by to see how she’s doing. Darla reveals that due to cases at work, she’s been furloughed. Ralph’s still calm about everything. But, it leads Ralph Angel to sell his trusty tractor. Another farmer stops to look at the tractor and is a shrewd negotiator. Although Ralph Angel asked for $8500, he sold it for $7000, all cash.

Meanwhile, Calvin walks in while Nova’s meditating. He apologizes for disturbing but she says he wasn’t. Nova tells Calvin she’s praying for Prosper. He’s been locked in his home for weeks, watching the news. She’s concerned about Prosper’s well-being along with everyone else in the parish. Calvin tells her that his kids aren’t taking the stay-at-home order easy either. They are frustrated with not being able to physically interact with their friends at school.

They then embrace one another.

Hollywood’s at home concerned as he’s unable to call his mom. He calls her friend Mrs. Florence to see how his mom is doing and gets her to stop by her place.

Darla and Ralph Angel decide to get new jobs.

Unfortunately for Ralph Angel, the tractor sale didn’t put a dent in the bills. He then realizes that his dad was in the same position before he passed. Darla and Ralph Angel say they’re going to get a “regular” job. Darla mentions to Ralph Angel that the local nursing homes are short on staff due to the pandemic. She mentions that it could be risky but Ralph Angel mentions that “everything is risky in 2020.”

The next day, Ralph Angel gets a call. The call seems good as he has a job interview and has to report at 4 pm.

Meanwhile, Micah’s on the phone when Charley walks into his room. His friend overhears her and immediately fans out, and insists on speaking to her. They then get back to flirting.

At a nursing facility, Ralph Angel has the interview and he’s dressed rather nicely. The person interviewing him grills him about making sure he put the residents first. Ralph Angel lets her know of his father’s legacy and how he taught him to be humble in any job he does. He seemingly wins her over.

Hollywood is worried and Ralph Angel is ready for his first day.

Back at home, Hollywood still can’t get in touch with Prosper. Aunt Vi brings him some tea, consoling him. Hollywood tells Aunt Vi that his mom’s likely showing symptoms of Covid-19. Aunt Vi tells him he needs to go to Baton Rouge and check on her and Prosper.

However, Prosper doesn’t seem to be interested in answering any phone calls. His phone rings but he doesn’t answer. He’s seen sitting on his bed. As he’s getting in bed for the night, his phone rings again, finally answering. He thought it was Hollywood calling back but it’s Nova instead. He apologizes for being rude. She then asks for a quote on an article she’s writing and he says yes.

It’s his first day for work and Ralph Angel’s getting ready to leave in his custodial uniform as Darla’s sewing. He’s glad to have a check coming in, calling it a blessing. Darla says she’s proud of him as they exchange a kiss. He then grabs his lunch and loads his pickup.
