Sheriff Guidry shows up at the farm with a shocking warrant.
Charley’s nervous. It’s because she’s being interviewed by Gayle King. Gayle greets her and lets her know she’s happy to interview her.
Meanwhile, Darla and Ralph Angel are in the bed waking up. Ralph Angel tells Darla that everything is going to be okay. It’s at this moment, they hear a truck backing up on the farm with police stopping in.
Ralph Angel walks out and sees Sheriff Guidry with a warrant to search the farm. Apparently, a judge reopened missing person cases and suspects Ernest possibly killed them.
Prosper’s at home being served breakfast in bed by Billie. She’s staying on top of him regarding eating and taking his medication. Billie insists that they hire an in-home nurse and went so far as to schedule one for him to try out. Next, Prosper asks about her boyfriend Vince and if she talked to Nova. Things are rocky with Vince. And when it comes to Nova, Billie is disappointed they aren’t as close as they used to be. Speaking of Nova, she’s getting security cameras installed and her neighbor Dominic stops by letting her know he has her back. He even wants Nova to text him when she returns home so he can look out.
At the restaurant, Hollywood greets Gabriel and they are going fishing. His mom Celine is happy Gabriel gets to go out and have fun for a change.
Charley gives a revealing interview.
It’s time for the interview and Charley says it was an honor to serve the citizens of Saint Josephine. She also speaks about how she’s helping the farmers in the area with their lawsuit against the USDA. Of course, Gayle asks about Davis and Charley mentions they reconciled. She’s forgiven him and they’re moving forward. When asked about the court of public opinion, Charley says Davis wants a chance to prove he’s a changed and better man. This includes doing the work and being a good father to his children.
Meanwhile, Micah’s having a debate with his friend Isaiah on Marcus Garvey’s Back to Africa Movement. During their conversation, they bring up how they want to get rid of police brutality and how it would feel without the threat of violence from police. Surprisingly, Isaiah tells Micah he knows Micah is sleeping with their professor. Micah vows for secrecy and Isaiah assures him he won’t tell anyone.
Back at the farm, Ralph Angel’s demanding respect from the police conducting the investigation. Meanwhile, he picks up the soil on the farm with a plastic bag. He then calls Benny about the soil, saying it needs to be tested.
Later on, Billie stops by Nova’s for a surprise conversation. Nova tells her that she didn’t deserve the treatment she received regarding her and Jimmy Dale. Billie says she was initially attracted to him but ran away from him before anything happened. However, she couldn’t defend herself from the rumors Jimmy Dale was spreading.
Things end between Micah and his professor.
Darla tells Ralph Angel that she knows a way they can get on top of all their bills. She discovered a student account she had since college. While it’s still managed by her parents, she’s going to ask them about it because the money was meant for her anyway. And she didn’t use it all because she didn’t finish college. Ralph Angel second guesses it and asks for more time to handle everything on his own.
Prosper calls Aunt Vi telling her about the nurse that’s coming by. It’s at that point Nurse Sandy arrives. When he sees Sandy’s smile, his mood immediately changes. Micah stops by his professor’s office with flowers. While flattered, she’s immediately nervous seeing him stop by the office.
It’s at this point, she lets him know their relationship is strictly physical and he needs more than what she can give him. She then tells him they should stop seeing each other. This is disappointing to Micah. While his heart’s broken, Charley’s heart is full. She returns to her hotel room and it’s full of flowers, lit candles, and balloons. Charley also sees a card that congratulates her for the excellent interview.
She calls Davis, getting his voicemail, and leaves a heartfelt message. Charley tells him that she loves him, too.
Aunt Vi gives Celine advice.
The search on the farm is still going when Nova gets there. Ralph Angel tells her the warrant derived from her book. Nova apologizes and says she’ll make it right. Back at the restaurant, Celine’s helping Aunt Vi. Aunt Vi tells Celine she needs to start the divorce proceedings, insisting that her son Gabriel needs a better life.
She also gives Celine a number to a lawyer that can help. Meanwhile, while fishing with Hollywood, Gabriel asks if the fish can go back to live a happy life. They put the fish they caught back in the water. Hollywood uses it to give a lesson on patience. Prosper’s enjoying his time with Nurse Sandy and they play a card game. They continue to bond over Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Sandy sings and Prosper is shocked by her amazing voice.
The investigation reveals a shocking discovery.
Micah’s in his dorm room depressed when he gets a visitor. It’s Isaiah. Micah tells him about his professor breaking things off and Isaiah does his best to keep his spirits up. This includes a meditation session. After a bit of resistance, Micah joins in. At her porch, Nova’s with Dominic when her officer informant stops by to let her know that the police are on to her and they know about the article. He advises Nova to get out of town for a while.
Dominic notices that he’s a cop even though he isn’t in uniform. Nova asks how he knows and Dominic tells her about his rough childhood. He was raised by his grandmother because his mother had many run-ins with cops.
It’s the evening and police are still searching the farm for bodies. Benny calls Ralphy Angel letting him know that the pesticide content of the soil is very high and Ralph Angel immediately knows the Landry family is tampering with his crops. It’s at this point Aunt Vi and Hollywood stop by to provide support. Unfortunately, the investigation unearths a bone, presumably human.
