And those who love it will eat its fruit.
(Proverbs 18:21)

There is a saying that goes “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Regardless of how great that might sound, did you know your own words could hurt you tremendously?
The truth is words do have power. They have the power to hurt the ones you love and words have the power to shape your entire life. Words are usually a reflection of your innermost thoughts.
Have you even noticed the effect of negative people and negative thoughts in your own life? Negative people are usually the ones that continuously tell you that you cannot do something. They tell you that your dreams will never happen and they do not help you grow in any way. Negative people are also draining people, and by the time you realize how toxic they really are, you will feel completely exhausted from dealing with them.
Negative thoughts are negative words before they are verbalized. You may be close to obtaining your goals, and then a negative thought will tell you that you are miles away. Before you know it, you will speak negative words, and talk about what you can’t do. Your progress is then instantly hindered, and you tend to lose your grounding.
When the bible says that death and life are in the power of the tongue, it is telling you one of the biggest secrets to a successful life:
Your words and thoughts shape your life. Good thoughts create good words, and good words bring good things.
When you speak negative words and meditate on negative thoughts, you are hindering your own progress. Have you ever really believed that you couldn’t do something until you actually could not do it? That’s what the bible means when it says that those who love it will eat it’s fruit.
Speak good words and watch your life begin to change.
Besides…which fruit really tastes better? Life or death?
