If anyone knows me and witnessed my ridiculous eyelash obsession, they will surely tell you that I am a mascara freak, and the addiction always leads me to the drug store to pick up the latest mascara that promises to make flawless lashes out of your natural beauties. Due to Covergirl’s recent launch of the Lashblast mascara line, I have been in eyelash heaven. I will admit I have gotten lazy, and can be seen in a drugstore near you filling up my cart with multiple tubes of the eyelash crack cocaine that comes in the big orange tube that I can’t seem to put down.
But when I received the news from some of my beauty editor pals that Maybelline was hell bent on giving Covergirl a run for their money with their new line of mascaras, I felt it would only be right if I stayed faithful to my editorial duties and matched the two mascaras pound from pound.
And so I put down that orange tube and made my way to my favorite make-up haven: Target (or as the girls and I say, Targé).
Here is my honest beauty review on Covergirl’s newest mascara, Lashblast Fusion and Maybelline’s latest, Lash Stiletto Voluptuous.
The Rundown
Both brands promise that these mascaras will give you maximum length and volume. So I was looking for drastically longer lashes and big lashes.
Lash Stiletto Voluptuous
The Brush Factor: The brush is not one that I can say I loved. In fact, I hated the brush. It is puny compared to Lashblast, and I have gotten accustomed (and rather spoiled) by big brushes. So I was disappointed to see the brush after opening up the package and preparing for use.
Length: Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous mascara did deliver on its promise of maximum length. My lashes were 3x their natural length after application. I’m pretty happy with the length.
Volume: You’ve got to be kidding me. I expected the drama, and all I got is the fluff. The volume isn’t impressive, all I really see is length here ladies.
Lash Effect: The brush wasn’t able to separate my eyelashes very well, so I kind have the whole spider eye look happening. I have to say, Maybelline is not making me want to make this mascara an everyday necessity. Not even a weekend fling.
Covergirl Lashblast Fusion
The Brush Factor: As I so fabulously mentioned early, I’m a size girl. I love my brushes big because I know it’s the big brushes that bring the drama. This brush is big, and it’s slightly bigger than the brush of the original Lashblast formula.
Length: My lashes are at least 3x times longer than the natural length. I’m satisfied length wise.
Volume: The volume is quite impressive. Am I surprised? Nope. Lashblast is a hit with women everywhere because it has always delivered on volume.
Lash Effect: My lashes look great and the brush has managed to separate every single one of my lashes. I can also say that my lashes are huge and dramatic, just the way I love them. I feel pretty sexy and my lashes are simply delicious.
So who wins?
Covergirl Lashblast Fusion kicked Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous mascara’s wimpy ass. I’m not at all surprised, and I can honestly say I am waiting for a brand to make me turn away from my Lashblast addiction. So far, nothing has and I’m left here holding these gigantic orange tubes for dear life. The only difference now is the tube will be blue, but still gigantic. Lashblast Fusion has found an addict in me, and you can’t take me away from Covergirl unless you have a pretty big brush to back up your promise of longer and bigger lashes.
So if you are looking for a mascara to help you forsake your dependency on false lashes, Covergirl Lashblast Fusion is worth the money, and an honest must have in your make-up bag.
Want to try Lashblast Fusion? You can for under $10 at your local drug store.
Covergirl Lashblast mascaras are the best mascaras I've ever used! I don't even need to wear fake lashes anymore. I was curious about trying the Maybelline Lash Stiletto Volupuous mascara, but after reading this review, I'll pass!
