The Williams’ Sisters have managed to stay on top of the tennis world for quite some time now. And they continue to break records of tennis greats that came before them. Today, one of the sisters has yet again made history, winning the 2010 Wimbledon Final.
Serena Williams defeated Russia’s Vera Zvonareva, winning her fourth Wimbledon title. Williams did not find much difficulty claiming her fourth title as she dominated the entire tennis match. Williams won straight sets, broke nine aces and never dropped a set. This was the 13th Grand Slam championship for Williams as well. Surprisingly, this was the first time that Serena Williams defeated someone other than her sister Venus Williams in the final. It is always fun to watch these two go head to head in a friendly, yet competitive sister vs. sister competition. But this year was a different story. Although this was not her first time winning the Wimbledon, she holds this one very dear to her heart:
“My dream was able to come true,” “Everyone’s dream can come true if you just stick to it and work hard. This one is very special.”
With this win, Serena Williams has moved ahead of tennis legend Billie Jean King on the women’s Grand Slam championships list. This is a huge accomplishment as Billie Jean King is a notable icon in professional tennis. It’s clear that Serena Williams is not only one of the best tennis players of this era. But she will go down in history as one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
