Known to millions as the “Queen Of Hip Hop Soul”, Mary J. Blige has stepped away from the mic for a minute to debut her very own fragrance for women. Blige’s fragrance, My Life by Mary J. Blige, is set to be released on July 31st. Isn’t it ironic that she chose this name seeing as though this was the title of her second studio album? She goes on to explain her reason behind picking this name:
“When my fans heard those songs, they told me they needed help too, and told me, ‘We’re going through this together,’… I’ve named the scent ‘My Life’ because it’s not what we are; it’s what we’ve shared… My life is my journey and I’ve always shared it through my music. I can’t wait to share my story with millions of women through HSN.”
The fragrance will be available through HSN, an online shopping network. This will be the first ever fragrance to be launched on the network. Blige describes her new fragrance as the “epitome of a confidant woman.” Proceeds from fragrance sales will go towards her foundation, FFAWN (Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now). In addition to launching her new fragrance, Blige is also about to start her very own sunglass collection, “Melodies by MJB”, which will be available in stores this upcoming October. It’s obvious that this diva has been doing much more than just singing. She has been quite busy these past couple of months. I wonder what her next business venture will be.
