Even after losing star quarterback Eli Manning in the first half due to a bloody head injury, the New York Giants’ offense still put on a great show, beating the New York Jets 31-16. Manning’s blow to the head was followed by a total of 12 stitches. The hit looked pretty painful. But according to him, he could have come back out on the field if necessary. Actually, it wasn’t at all necessary for Eli Manning to return to the game at all. With no panic in their step, the Giants simply re-grouped their offense and got the job done. Backup quarterback Jim Sorgi took over and managed to be a guiding force for his team’s offense.
Not to mention rookie Victor Cruz’s three touchdown catches; one of which was amazingly caught left handed. Cruz’s performance even drew him comparison with Randy Moss:
“I don’t even know who No. 3 is,” “but he looked like Randy Moss out there with those three touchdowns.” – Jets linebacker Bart Scott
The New York Jets also had some new faces on the field for them including LaDanian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Antonio Cromartie, Brodney Pool and Santonio Holmes.
Whether or not Eli Manning will play in the Giants next game is still questionable at the moment. The Giants will face the Steelers this upcoming Saturday at home.
