7 Reasons Why Sex is Good For Your Health

Sex can be a good thing if is handled in a healthy, loving, and responsible manner. When we keep all of the risks in mind or find ourselves in healthy marriages and relationships; good sex not only feels good, but it is actually good for you. After having a recent conversation with a married gal pal, I decided to research the real benefits of a healthy sex life. Some of the results were interesting, and more proof of why we should all strive for the best in not only relationships and marriages, but also in our sex lives.

Here a few benefits of some good old fashion (and responsible) sex.

1. Stress Reliever

Let’s face it. Life is pretty stressful once we factor into crappy jobs, hostile work environments, graduate programs, those never ending bills, and every other crappy part of adulthood. But have you ever considered just how much a healthy sex life can improve the too demanding real world that we’ve been living in since the end of college?

Research has proven that sex can indeed work wonders on stress. According to Biological Psychology, those who have the most sex better handle stress than those that don’t. Those who have frequent sex tend to also have lower blood pressure.

2. Improves Physical Healthy and Immunity

Not only can you pop a vitamin C pill to battle unwanted illnesses, but not you can add a little more sex to your schedule, and battle illness at the same time. According to scientists at Wilkes University, those who have sex at least once or twice a week, have higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A. This antibody will prevent you from catching those pesky common colds and more severe infections.

3. Good for the Heart

Not only good for mental health, but sex is also great for your heart. According to the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, having sex more than twice a week decreases the chances of falling victim to a fatal heart attack.

4. Burns Calories

Sex is a more intimate form of exercise, and burns plenty of unwanted calories to those looking to shed a few pounds. Did you know that thirty minutes of sex burns 85 or more calories? About 42 and 30 minute long sessions could burn nearly 4,000 calories.

5. Healthy for the Ego

A little lovemaking can be quite the self esteem builder for those who are pleasing their partners in bed. According to the Archives of Sexual Behavior, sex generally makes people feel pretty good about themselves.

6. Improves Relationships

Sex can be a powerful resource for committed couples and wounded marriages. A good sex life is key to great intimacy between two people. Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of North Carolina discovered that sex and orgasms increased levels of the hormone oxytocin. This hormone is help partners bond and build trust in relationships and marriages.

7. Get Better Sleep

Research shows that a great orgasm encourages sleep, which opens the doorway to more health benefits.

Those who get the proper amount of sleep tend to have healthy blood pressure, less stress, tough immune systems, and healthier weight.
