Willow Smith Doesn’t Give A Good Damn About What You Think About Her

By: Amanda Anderson-Niles

Willow Smith is one of the most controversial of celebrity kids. Reasons would stem for her interesting sense of style, frequent experiments with her hair, and her obvious high levels of sass which seem to rub a lot of grown folks the wrong way. But we’d be lying if we said we hadn’t notice that Willow can’t even so much as fart without people getting a little too offended. Rather or not people agree with Will and Jada’s style of parenting, or some feel lack thereof, Willow seems to have reached a level of comfort in herself and just who she becoming as her very own celebrity. That’s an interesting twist to someone who was regretting her fame a few months ago.

In a recent interview with Micheal Yo, Willow kind of made it clear that she’s made it to the point where she really can give a damn about what folks are saying about her:

“The thing is that if I know what’s true in my heart and my soul, then what people say can’t shape that. I can say, “I don’t have a fake tongue ring,” and they’ll be like, “aw, she covered it up!”

People have their own thing regardless. And, that is totally okay with me. If you don’t like me, if you like me; both are equally cool. I send love and positive energy to all those people in their lives. I hope they find where they’re meant to be but it’s kind of like don’t come here with that.”

“Grown ups [have] children and they say “you can be whatever you want to be.” And then they go on my Instagram and comment, ‘How can your parents let you go out looking like that?’ Telling me that I can’t do what I want to do. When I’m someone’s child. You’re telling your kid they can be this but telling me I can’t be that.”

Snaps. You tell them Willow.

She still acts too grown though. But maybe that’s Will and Jada’s problem to worry about.

  1. I’m glad Willow is developing thick skin because as hard as folks go in on this child, she surely needs to. I do think she is too grown for her own good, but she’s not my child and I can’t bring myself to tear her down behind a computer.

  2. Did she really just say “don’t come here with that?” Isn’t she like 11? People go in on her because they have seen what becomes of the Willows of the world. Nothing good comes from a child who grows up too fast. Watch.

  3. This actually made me kind of like Willow. I respect that she can stand up for herself. I don’t agree with how she’s being raised but I don’t think all the criticisms are fair either.

  4. Please. This child cares what people think about her. This is nothing but a front and she needs to sit down somewhere and actually be a child for once. She’ll regret growing up too fast later.
