There may not be an official Big Boi and Andre 3000 beef, but it does appear that the dynamic Hip Hop duo may not ever come to common ground when it comes to the future of Outkast. For several years, Big Boi and Andre 3000 have left their fans anticipating and wishing for another Outkast album. But time after time, it just becomes increasingly harder to get both rappers back to the studio and working on an album. Instead, Outkast fans have had to settle for guest appearances on the tracks of other rappers, and even solo albums from Big Boi. Andre 3000 on the other hand has developed an interest in acting, working on saving his troubled fashion line, and he can also currently be seen as one of the latest spokespersons for Gillette.
So it just appears that Andre 3000 could possibly be too busy for another Outkast album, and Big Boi seems to agree, even though he was clear that he has some annoyances with the way Andre 3000 is going about dodging studio time. Fans of the group even admit that they feel Andre 3000 is the sole cause of the group’s long silence in the music industry, and it does appear that Andre 3000 might have confirmed that in a recent interview.
During his press rounds at a recent Gillette event, when Andre 3000 was asked about Outkast’s future, he didn’t really give fans hope that this isn’t the end of Outkast. Instead, Andre 3000 states the obvious, which is he isn’t really feeling another Outkast album.
He says:
“Some days I feel like I’ll do it, some days I don’t. Some days I feel like I don’t need to, some days I feel like I want to do it before I die. So, I don’t know where to fall. I am just hoping one day I get that inspiration. It’s a feeling for me. Like, I can’t just throw out an album to be rapping. And I don’t even know if it will be rap. I don’t even know what it will be. It could be a rush situation. Like if I feel that feeling and I record an album in three days and I’m like, ‘This is what I want to say right now’ — that can happen, too.
I write all the time. … I actually stopped typing it in my phone because like a cloud is basically reading every thought that I have and I don’t like that. So I went back to my paper and started writing.”
Andre also claims that he thinks fans might want another Outkast album for the wrong reasons:
“Man, we’ve had a great ride. … Like when we got into it when we were high school kids and we just wanted to do something fun and push it, and if it’s not that then why do it?
I’m not the type that prescribes to nostalgia, and most people say they want an OutKast album because they used to love it. Y’all don’t even know if y’all still love it. You just know you used to love it. But you may not like it now, who knows?”
See he crazy!
Just shatter my dreams 3 Stacks. lol
I blame Erykah Badu. This man is a certified nut now. He doesn’t even make any sense. smh
Why does he have to make everything so damn deep?
Shut up and take yo a– back to the studio. With all these horrible rappers out here, you ought to be inspired to make music!
It’s official. Hang it up, FLAT SCREEN. It’s not happening. lol
Oh goodness…I see why Big Boi shaded his a–. He sounds loopy.
Damn shame. One of the best groups of all time aren’t get back together because one of the members can’t get over himself.
Yeah so that album isn’t happening. lol
What is he talking about? He should have just said he ain’t doin no more albums and left it at that!
lol I’m sure Big Boi is sitting somewhere reading this article with his “THIS n*gga” face on. Overall though I feel Andre. When music is an art to you, “getting back in the studio” without the passion or desire behind it is premature and foolish.
