It’s pretty understandable why Basketball Wives Miami has a terrible reputation. Last season was extremely violent, and it became increasingly hard to keep watching the show when you see grown women jumping on tables and tossing wine bottles at other women for the pettiest of reasons. The season was so violent and so controversial that eventually a petition to get the show cancelled popped up online and garnered thousands of signatures. Although the show did not get cancelled, as a result of the petition and public outcry, VH1 has promised to tame things down a bit next season. Regardless, even though the show did see a drop in ratings during the controversy over the violence, the show did manage to finish the season with strong ratings.
To the contrary, the spin-off show Basketball Wives LA just hasn’t been able to see the same success ratings wise. In fact, most viewers have complained that this version of Basketball Wives is just too boring to watch. After ratings began to hit an all time low, Executive Producer Shaunie O’Neal agreed that the show is in need of a major revamp. Whispers suggest the revamp actually means there will be some firings, similar to the ones made on Basketball Wives Miami that resulted in Royce Reed, Jennifer Williams, and Kesha Nichols getting their walking papers.
Brooke Bailey doesn’t necessarily agree that firings need to happen to make the show better, but she did reveal in a recent interview that she thinks the show needs to be a little more “classy” like Basketball Wives Miami to survive.
Bailey tells Sister 2 Sister Magazine:
“We definitely had a lot more ghetto and ratchetness on ‘L.A.’ than Miami has had in their four seasons that we’ve seen. So, I do agree with [the critics] in that sense.
“Miami is a few notches upscale from what we brought this season, and I would definitely hope that we can get it together to be on that same level.
“I know that just like every other city, we have a ghetto. I’m from the ghetto, but I think that the viewers would like to see a lot more of what L.A. has to offer than just some ghettoness.”
Not only does Brooke want the “class” the ladies on Basketball Wives Miami seem to portray on-screen, but she also wants the individual success all seem to have as well.
She says:
“I’m cordial on Twitter with Evelyn [Lozada]. She’s done great. Of course, I look at her, I look at NeNe Leakes as reality show stars, and the paths that they’ve taken, I hope that my career is able to be as great as theirs.”
Clearly we can’t really see the class Bailey is talking about when it comes to Basketball Wives Miami, but we do agree something does need to be done about the show. It’s just become too hard to watch and it’s pretty dry compared to other reality shows on the same network.
I like Brooke and Draya!
Lmao! I can’t with this chick!
I like Brooke but she can be an airhead sometimes. This is one of those times. BBW Miami is NOT classier than BBW LA at all. They are both ratchet shows.
Those Miami h-eas are not classy. AT ALL.
LOL Brooke had to be trolling when she said this. I see you Brooke. Get that blog time boo.
I know what she meant but she has to understand Shaunie and co aren’t classier. Their drama just seemed more authentic. LA’s beefs just aren’t believable.
I just can’t get into BBW LA. But I lost interest in BBW Miami, so I think I’m just over both shows.
Chile bye. Both shows are ratchet. That’s why I watch them. LOL.
Neither show is better or classier than the other. Seriously.
Chile please. There’s nothing classy about Shaunie and them. She looks cute in that picture though.
